can anyone tell me why when trains are diverted via northampton they crawl through the station on the down main . i am fully aware of the speed restrictions of 20 mph through the sharp curve in to northampton plat 2,but as a former signalman in northampton know that once clear of that restriction on the down that there are speed signs just past the riverside junction of 30mph and then just before northampton north junction 60mph,so why in the simulation are they still travelling at 20 mph when passing signal ry 1039 towards mill lane, this slows everything down and does not represent a true simulation of the layout at northampton.

Can you clarify where the rear of the train is at the time you feel it should be accelerating?

You have to get a red before you can get any other colour

yes paul it is well clear of the barrow crossing on plat 2 so should already be accelerating towards the 30 mph at riverside junction plus the 60 mph sign is just past the spencer bridge road overbridge which must only be some 100 yds further on. plus back in the day when northampton no 3 and 4 boxes were still there most down diverts were already doing 50 to 60 past no 3 box and 60-70 by no 4 box!!!!!

I have checked the sim, cross checked with scheme plans and cab ride videos, and can only come to the conclusion that the simulation is correct. I ran 1S26 as a test and watched its speed. While its rear end was still in the platform the train was limited to 20mph. Once clear of that it sped up to 30mph - but the front was already into the 60mph so it continued past 30mph to 60mph, but not until Mill Lane Jn.

Some possibilities:
1. You're using a timetable that has incorrect data (which timetable are you using?)
2. In real life trains open up before they're supposed to (wouldn't be the first time a simulation has discovered a real life speeding issue *cough* somewhere in Scotland *cough*).
3. The train only saw a yellow so expected to stop at the next signal.

As I say, I believe the simulation data is correct from multiple sources.
