Still playing the Peterborough 2017 Austerity sim and have come across this TT for 2K24. I reckon it's wrong and I have amended it in the Train List and 2K24 is now going towards Werrington Junction on route to Spalding, it's destination. If you don't change the TT, you are eventullay informed that the Driver of 2K24 is waiting at red signal 436 which is at the 'UP' end of platform 2.

Just thought that I'd mention it.

I can provide a save if requested to do so.

Are you running in the right era? The USL is bidirectional in later years so this timetable should be acceptable.

As JC92 says, you're running it in the wrong era. The USL is bi-directional in the later era. However, I ran a test, and a train with that timetable still accepted the route in the old era.

Blast!

I did see an option for bi-directional running during the initial setup, but didn't realise that I should have selected it.
I'm going to start the sim again.

Thanks for pointing this out.

The train should not be headed the wrong way just because its TT contains an invalid line code, so I'd say this is actually a bug in the sim.

I did set up a test train to try and reproduce the issue, but the test train did operate correctly and depart on the DF.

Bug in the sim? As it's being run in the wrong era, I'd be inclined to say it's a case of Garbage In= Garbage Out. However, I don't think there's a warning on starting the simulation that the era is wrong for the timetable, so I've put that on the issue tracker [#21501].

The timetable warning is triggered by the timetable using a location that is not available in the era being used.
If there is no difference between those used, and those available to be used then the timetable will be accepted.

Apart from the current basic compatibility check, as a general wishlist item it would be nice if timetables could just explicitly save the era they were created in. That way
- the warning about a different era would work even if there are no differences in available locations between eras
- the loader could already preselect the correct era in the menu when starting a new simulation

Two million people attempt to use Birmingham's magnificent rail network every year, with just over a million of them managing to get further than Smethwick.

Yes, a warning would be good.

I think that something like a note in the "Description of Selected Timetable" box in the start-up process stating that this timetable should be run in the "Spalding bi-di" era would have helped, although there may be a better way.

Enjoying the re-run. A good timetable.

Not as easy as it sounds. "Era" isn't always a single option (e.g. in Peterborough, "Legacy timetable options" is also part of the era for this purpose). But it has been raised anyway (not by me) as 21503.

I'm puzzled. I just created a test train with a very similar timetable (it comes out of Peterborough Loco but is otherwise the same) and it doesn't enter in the old era because the timetable doesn't validate. Which, given what's in the sim data, is what I would expect.

Ah, I see. If you Next: to a timetable that doesn't validate, there's no obvious warning.

Mantis 21505 for both of these.
