Loss of Power and Divisions 03/09/2018 at 16:00 #111830

Have done a small search of the forum/manuals but nothing turned up.

My question is how does the core code treat the loss of power ('flag'?) when a train divides? In a simple divide (DR/DF) I assume the new train is not effected? Similarly with dropping coaches (DCF/DCR)? If an engine is detached (DEF/DER) does this have a loss of power as well and does the original train still have the loss it entered with?

I ask because (like in real life) it is useful to avoid trains running with low power over lines with significant gradients. So playing Control, I have edited timetables to swap out defective locos/units where appropriate but I haven't been able to completely ascertain what is the best timetabling method of cutting out the affected loco/unit.

For trains with LoP that need to join I assume that whether the loss is passed on depends if the train is joining or being joined by another train?

Any help gratefully received!

I believe only the original train is affected, not any portions from any type of divide.
