It might be quite cool to have a "read-only" client mode that allows people to watch in on a sim without being able to interact with it. I'd anticipate it to have the usual client-mode features of chat, train list but you'd be unable to click anything in the viewport. In this mode, people who have not (yet) bought the sim would still be able to watch, it might even encourage more sales. This would also be useful for hosts or other people with two devices to be able to extend their view (under one license). I guess a new loader button, some code around licensing, and a certain amount of work around WM handling would be needed, but I think it could be doable. Thanks Jamie Jamie S (JAMS) Log in to reply |

Support this, would be a useful feature for multiplayer chains (like the one I'm planning this afternoon/evening).

If the idea was extended so the host could set the parameter to define whether someone was allowed to join in "view only" or "full access" mode (and could change it in mid-session) it would also enable the host to have some control over those who join and then disrupt the session by interfering with other panels or posting inanities in the TD berths.
