3Q80 2133 Neville Hill - Derby RTC UTU enters on the Up Fast from Slade Lane with the TT showing to cross to the Up Slow at Heaton Noris Jn, which is not possible. Additionally, it enters at a speed of 79mph which climbs to 83mph before slowing to cross to the Up Slow at Stockport No.2 (and on the Manchester South sim I'm running concurrently it climbs to 90mph, which definitely wouldn't do our probes any good). I work ultrasonic test trains and have listed a number of points as follows:- 1. UTU's transit at Max Speed 75mph (subject to any lower permissible linespeeds) and record at Max Speed 30mph (again subject to any lower permissible linespeeds. 2. Recording south of Manchester Piccadilly is normally planned thus:- a) Fast lines timed out and back from Crewe as part of a Crewe - Man Picc - Crewe - Derby RTC diagram and normally take place on a Friday night every 8 weeks. b) Slow lines from Adswood Road to Piccadilly are normally tested as part of a diagram where testing starts at Colwich Jn via Stoke - Macclesfield - Cheadle Hulme - Adswood Rd (Dn Slow) - Man Picc (reverse) then Up Slow back to Adswood Road - Stoke - Colwich. I've never known a diagram be planned to cross Fast - Slow at Stockport 2, I would instead expect 3Q80 to be timed either Up Fast/Main throughout to Crewe or Up Slow throughout to Adswood Rd, short transit to Cheadle Hulme and resume testing from there to Stoke via Macclesfield, and all (except for transits) at 30mph max. Hope this helps. Regards, Phil. Last edited: 14/12/2018 at 16:10 by Phil-jmw Reason: None given Log in to reply |

I suspect that the FL routing at Man Picc is incorrect. I say this because at the start of each shift we always compare the bid and timings because there are occasions when what is required to be tested is not reflected in the timings so we have to flag it up with Control to try and ensure we get routed correctly, although occasionally this isn't possible, eg because of overnight ECS stabling in platforms. Just looking back through my old rosters UTU1 worked that job that night and it was a part-recovery shift, meaning that rather than being a regular schedule it would have been a STP schedule created to mix and match parts of two or more planned diagrams, and the fact that it shows FL at Man Picc and SL at Heaton Norris makes it look to me like an error crept in either when the train was timed or when the schedule was created, which as I mentioned earlier does happen.

I've just had another look at the timings and as 3Q80 is given only 35 mins Man Picc - Crewe (30 miles) it would have been transiting and not recording, so apart from the pathing error the only other error is the max speed of the train which should be 75mph.

3S50 (enters 2052 from Hazel Grove) need to have 'through line stop' ticked else it will call wrong route for the down goods at Stockport - and it can't be put in a platform as 3 and 4 only have limit of shunts in the up direction.

There's a mismatch between 3Q80 (Crewe-Crewe) in Stockport and the one in Picc (Neville Hill TSRMD - Derby).

On stockport there are 3 trains that have the TD 3Q80 2 with the UID H10240 which is the Crewe-Crewe (and they are the same train) and one with the UID of U39621 which would be the Neville Hill TSRMD - Derby which is on both sims, the first 3Q80 does not enter the Pic area so those trains will not be on that sim. In short there is no mismatch, just 2 diferent trains using the same TD. Log in to reply |

From having a look it looks like a train is missing from Pic which would be 3Q80/H10240, which should be fixed in the next TT update
