Heya Bugsy, I have done that previously when I had cash in hand but I've recently (2 weeks ago) put all my money left into my card / account, so I don't have any money in hand to give back. I asked for a pin number for my card (the 4 digit one you enter at a cash machine) 2 weeks ago but I haven't got it yet. I might be going the back sometime this week or weekend and I'll ask about the pin and I'll also ask about PayPal and see if it's something on my end or whether it's restricted or not. Thanks

Ben.

In Post #114749 Headshot119 said that “PayPal don't allow under 18s to use the service” and in Post # 114754 he said “All the payment processing is handled by PayPal irrespective of whether you do or don't chose to create an account.”

You have said previously that you have been able to use the card during the year since receiving it, the card has obviously been activated, so regarding PayPal, the general consensus is that your problem is more than likely due to their age restrictions. You haven’t actually said that you are under 18, but if you are, this is probably the cause.

As you will have access to your funds in the not too distant future wouldn’t one of your kind family members could loan you the money?

Everything that you make will be useful - providing it's made of chocolate.

Yeah, I'm under 18, 13 to be precise lol. I'm not sure if I will be getting my pin number any soon as I don't have that much time to go to the bank with school and everything. Until I get my money in hand or I can confirm when I'm going to get the money in hand, my parents are being pushy lol. I don't blame them though, I don't know when / if I'll get the money.

Hiya Peter, thank you so much for contacting PayPal, I wouldn't have the patience to do it lol. Thanks for helping, I hope that they reply. :)
Beginning to wish I'd not started the conversation; I'm now banging my head on my screen. Wonder if they use the same agents as Virgin Media https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FHeLkdTuw-8

Yeah- they got it.

This is the final reply (this was by DM so not visible on Twitter), I'll spare you the extended conversation .

Hello, I understand that you've concerns with regards to a underage user making a guest checkout. Please be advised that we cannot process payments for individuals under 18 year. Your kind understanding is much appreciated. If there is anything else with which we can further assist you, please contact us at any time.
So I think that fits with the thoughts above.

Ah, that might be why then. Thanks for getting in touch with them. Does that mean I'm not allowed to buy any SimSig sims? I bloody hope not.

As has been said several times, ask an adult to use their card. What SimSig allows and what PayPal allows are two very different things.

Semantic point, but if you can only purchase from SimSig through Paypal, then what PayPal allows is effectively what SimSig allows. There is no ability for a purchaser to use any other method than PayPal so SimSig are by proxy only allowing purchases in line with the PayPal T&Cs. If SimSig were genuinely allowing something beyond the PayPal T&Cs, they would allow an alternative route for the purchaser.

Not true at all. For that to be true, the SimSig (Cajon Rail LLC) policies need to be identical which they're not. No commercial use, for starters. The OP has already stated he has an alternate method of payment so the argument is moot anyway.

Granted you put quotes around the "legal" so maybe you already know, but there is no law against what you want to do - it's PayPal's choice to restrict payments in this way. But it's within Ts&Cs to allow users as young as 13 to have an account, though it may vary by country, and I'm not sure how such accounts can be used (I have ideas but beyond the scope of this conversation).

I'm sure m'learned friends could have fun with this one and the arguments about unfair contract terms, implicit rather than explicit T&Cs etc!
