Hi, I was wondering if someone could link me to a step by step explanation on how to port forward a virgin media hub 3.0 for SimSig. I was able to port forward my old BT smart hub just fine, but for some reason the virgin hub doesn't seem to want to work. The issue seems to be people trying to join the server. I followed this helpful thread linked to me by someone https://www.SimSig.co.uk/Forum/ThreadView/49461 However i'm not sure as to what Ip and port someone should join with. Thanks in advance. Hi Mark, I have followed every step in your step by step explanation on how to portforward. However when i start the game up, nothing happens, it loads up the sim, but the messages box remains blank. And people can't seem to be able to join. What Ip and port should they be using to join. I assumed it was the "Whats my IP" ip on SimSig, with the primary 50505 port but it doesn't seem to work, any ideas? thanks.

Go to https://www.yougetsignal.com/tools/open-ports/ Under "your external address" it lists your IP address which you give to other people. That's how connections know where to go. With SimSig running, and running as a server (last page of Start New Simulation), enter 50505 in the Port Number box on the same website as above and click Check. If it says port open then we know the port forwarding is connecting (SimSig will also show a connect and disconnect message). If it says closed then your forwarding isn't working. Thanks for the reply, It says port closed which is why it doesn't seem to be working I assume. I have retried setting up the port forward and saving it as Mark C suggested, to no avail. Any more suggestions or should I just give up lol

If you still can't do it and your happy to have somebody connect to your machine using Teamviewer then we could do this for you (but probably tomorrow now) We are generally on the teamspeak server at weekends so either send a message here or come on to teamspeak tomorrow and we can sort it. I'm also having issus with the Virgin Hub 3.0. I've had port forwarding work fine on one before but since getting a replacement router just doesn't seem to work even though i've set the ports up in the same way. EDIT: Scratch that, got it working. My firewall was blocking the connections to and from. Last edited: 11/02/2019 at 10:20 by Champs450007 Reason: None given Log in to reply |
