do i expect to see any future timetables which make use of the currently un-used sidings and paths which are not touched in the current timetable? would be nice to see more shunts and more trains. the UK simulations have several timetables where these AU ones dont seem to get any attention for their potential. The issue with AUS is obtaining Timetable info as I don't beleive they have open access information like we do.

I work for railways in New Zealand, that is next country over from Australia. If any sim creators are interested in making an NZ sim I have access to all line, signal, yard and train plan documents. It would be a walk in the park for anyone wanting to do so. Log in to reply |

Yes they do show all of that. Except interlocking diagrams but it's all stock standard and can help with that.

Realised that there is a language problem which has given rise to the confusion. I have sat in many meetings where two participants agreed to "take things off-line". That was an indication that they would discuss the matter between themselves without bothering the rest of the meeting with the details. It was not a technological marker. Well i can certinaly try! To start with train numbering on the ARTC network is governed by this document: https://www.artc.com.au/uploads/RAS-V1.0-Appendix-B-Train-Numbering.pdf The schedule reffers to how fastr the train can go i.e how long it should take for the train to travel from one place to the other. The passenger trains use special paths i.e Crail 1, XPL, XPT, the best thing to do if develop9ing a timetable around the passenger trains is to try to stick to the defult train types - XPL schedule - DMU P Set (2-6 cars) Xplorer XPT schedule - XPT 5 or 7 Cars Crail 1 schedule - DMU N Set (2-6 cars) Endeavour Freight is a little more complicated Diffrent trains run at many different speeds based on the engines used and the wagons being pulled and how much weight is in the wagons, i will try to give the best explination i can: 1 schedule - Minerals Empty NR 2 schedule - Minerals Loaded NR AACL schedule - Any of the loaded coal options 1CE schedule - Any of the empty coal options up to 80kph (we dont have fast coal trains down south) A/A1/A2 schedule - Fast freight empty or loaded up to 115kph B/B1/B2 schedule - Superfreight empty or loaded up to 110kpm (no defults for these in the sim) C/C1/C2 schedule - Heavy freight empty or loaded up to 100kph 80kmh (DE) schedule - Heavy freight empty or loaded up to 80kph SYDNEY MET schedule - This is difficult because it reffers to many different train types, but is generally 80kph heavy The path type doesnt make much sense in the master time table, as all paths in the master time table are M for Mandatory, there are other trains which either run on an ad-hoc basis or not regually which use a system called DTPOS (Daily Train Path Ordering System) for requesting paths, rather then the M paths which are negotiated by contract and are generally permanant and higher priority than ad-hoc type paths, but also more espensive for train operators. one last question - is there a way of identifying the origins of the services? I can see at the bottom it shows where the trains goes to, but trains that enter from Picton or Unanderra for instance, don't show their origin location or time.

Not easily for many. You'd need data for each network operator and have to work backwards. It's not impossible though. Looking up the train numbering principles in the Train Operating Conditions manual will give you a clue as to the colliery for coal trains, or the region of origin/destination for other freight.
