Sorry, I'm new and still learning. What's the trick to getting a train into an occupied platform (say platform 6). It keeps stopping at MP345 I have to wait until they call and then tell them to proceed through the caution.

Morning and welcome!

Could you attach a screenshot at all of the train stopped at the signal?
I don't have the sim open at the moment, but may be easy enough to sort by looking...

Thanks,
Joe

A save game is always more helpful to debug with than a screenshot. A screenshot just shows what you are looking at, a save game shows what is actually going on.

My immediate guess without any information is that if the whole of platform 6 is occupied (both track circuits) and the berth at the signal going into the platform, and one in rear is occupied, the conditions are not met for the signal to clear (lime street control)

Will bear this in mind for the future James, ta.

Simply set the route into the platform as normal (you'll need to use the via buttons), and the signal will show a shunt aspect when the train comes to a stand at it.

Incidentally, Manchester Piccadilly is one of the hardest simulations available- if you're new, I'd strongly recommend starting on something easier and working your way up to Man Picc.

I've attached the save game. The train in question is 2H03 which is scheduled to go to platform 6. I checked the train lengths and the platform is long enough but I just cannot get the train to proceed beyond MP345. The save game is just before I routed the train into the platform.

Looking at the save game, both track circuits in Platform 6 are occupied, and on approach, 2H03 is occupying the track circuit with Signal MP345 and the one in rear of that. This is basically down to Lime Street Control. The interlocking does not think given the information that it has, that there is available space within the platform, therefore will not allow the call on route to clear.

==Edit==

One thing to remember, as humans we can calculate in our heads how long the trains are combined to whether there should be space, Interlocking only has very limited information, in this case, the few track circuits on the approach to calculate the length of trains

Thanks.
So what's the solution? Route it to another platform (different that scheduled) or manually tell it to proceed to the platform once I receive the phonemail?

Route into a different platform is your best bet.
