Hello all, Just interested in knowing how such an operation would work really. I was looking at various engineering operations for Three Bridges ASC area, and noticed on one Sunday in November there was a shuttle service on Brighton <-> Falmer, using one train probably a 313. Since there is no crossover at Falmer, and no ECS moves to Lewes to crossover to the Up Branch, I can only assume this ran wrong line on the Up Line to Falmer (they ran from Brighton P8) or normal Down Line to Falmer, then wrong line back to Brighton. As there is no Bi-Directional signalling on either line, would there be a hand signal at Brighton or Falmer (depending where the wrong line running was from) showing a yellow flag? Or would it be a fixed flag, or some other operation? IIRC these are usually Driver Only Operated but I presumably a guard would do the doors especially when on one direction the doors are on the offside and no DOO mirrors or monitors provided. Not a scenario I chose to do in the end, but in theory could this be represented in SimSig? James. Log in to reply |

I would assume single line working with a pilot would have been employed. Similar working is currently in use daily between Worcester Park and Ewell West due to the landslip at Epsom, complete with movement over the ground frame-operated emergency trailing crossover at Worcester Park. However we do use RB P2 on the BML between Balcombe Tunnel Junction and Preston Park if working to and from the point of obstruction because of the Bi-Di signalling and the direction of flow arrows (which are interlocked) being locked into the wrong direction.I would assume single line working with a pilot would have been employed. It’ll be working by pilotman to and from the point of obstruction which can be found in the Rule Book in Section 4 of module P2 here - https://catalogues.rssb.co.uk/rgs/rulebooks/GERT8000-P2%20Iss%205.pdf Last edited: 19/12/2019 at 17:22 by Hooverman Reason: None given Log in to reply |
