Just been looking at the track diagrams shown on the Railcam website and noted the area around Rotherham is blocked due to the flooding. Good old Yorkshire humour abounds with the 4 digit tack circuits showing “WATA” and “FLUD” I am sure you regular signallers could come up with other terminology used in emergencies. Last time there were floods, the area around Sheffield saw quite a few of these (GETA BOAT, DAMP etc) - evidently a good sense of humour in the ROC!

And here's me thinking that Yorkshire Humour was an oxymoron like Military Intelligence or Business Ethics.

LOTA WATA John - we have a sense of humour, but much like our finances, frugality is everything. "We don't stop camborne wednesdays" Log in to reply |

That humour isn't confined to Yorkshire, it also occurs in Derbyshire. After the floods in November last year, berths on the down slow at St Marys Junction near Derby showed such things as SWAN LAKE and DUCK POND.

I can’t remember exactly where it was, but a signaller once put FUKD where a demic unit was stabled. Probably before signalling maps and real time displays were as mainstream!
