I must say what a great site and resource this is. I was a GPR Signalman and Crossing keeper based at Poulton-le-Fylde. (Poulton 3 Box). 1978-88 when back injuries forced me to retire early. These days I'm a Poet/Author. I'm not sure how often I'll be able to get in here, but I'll reply to future messages ASAP. Regards, Jack. Log in to reply |

Thanks mate. All my Boxes and Crossings here now. I watched most being demolished [in YouTube], with no regard for our Railway or Signalling Heritage. They could have saved a couple for Educational purposes but Councils were just not interested. A signal of the times? Sorry for the pics quality; I had to just snap and run haha. 1st is Carleton Crossing Box the 2nd is Singleton. It took two ambulance crews to get me out of Singleton. (Feb-1982). The Lunchtime London 1P18? had to be sent through at Caution to check me out and report. I was on the floor with a back injury. The 2nd Man was a 1st-aider. He made me comfortable, coat over me and gave me a fag; then off they went. ("Sorry M8, gotta leave you). Haha. Did I have an interesting career? you bet. Jack. Post has attachments.
