Hi all,

I am trying to install the useful looking tool SimSigWTT from Github. However, on install I get an error that "Downloading http://www.SimSig.co.uk/publish/SimSigWTT/SimSigWTT.application did not succeed." Please could someone advise where I can get the file(s)?

I have attached the full error log.

MTIA,
Thomas

Hi Thomas, that's my repo, I've made it private as it hasn't been touched in 7 years, and I'm not sure it worked anyway, and has also since been superseded by other things.

If you want to work on SimSig related tools there's always a few of us floating around on team speak that dabble in programming (some of us are even "professionals"!)

Hi Sacro,

Thanks. Makes sense, I was recommended it by someone on Facebook today hence trying to get it working.

I'm also a software dev, although mostly PHP now, I did my A-Level in C#, so thought I'd have a look at the tool to see if I could make it work, but if it has been superseded I shall take a look at other tools instead.

Thanks,
Thomas

Ah cool, I did C# many years ago, mostly Javascript/Typescript/Go these days!

Its denfinely a good tool to use.

I found it online and used it to produce a timetable. Just noticed you can't easily sort Permanents, to Alterations & Cancellations as per the CIF file in doing so giving you dublicates of the same train which I need to sort through to keep the right one.

Would be handy to know how to get the unit diagrams function to work too?

Cheers

It looked great as you say but unfortunately, the tool is no more. I need to have a dig around and try and find the replacement tools which were mentioned.

Neither the original, nor those under development since have ever been officially released.

It would be helpful for the writers of heritage TTs if such a tool could be revived so that TT editing could be done without having to have the sim running (or delving into the XML and having your divide/multiply by 24*60*60 calculator running)!

It's on Github so yes something was released - but it's so old I have no inclination to see what state it's in. But being on Github means anybody can take up the reins.

No doubt, my post was more aimed towards the intent of the OP to “dig around” to find the software.

I stand corrected then, although my assertion was based on it never being announced, properly published through the website or properly documented.

Um... it was. Hence the link in the OP.

Tempted to reverse engineer and make it work, the joys of open source software!

Didn't you fork it first? I can interested parties a copy, or share the repo privately.

I have indeed forked it cloned a copy of the source. GitHub hasn't forced me to make it privately but shows it as not a forked repository. Would you like me to make it private?

I did it to avoid people coming and asking more questions on it! Might be best, start a new project to work on things using more modern tooling.

Good shout, I'll start afresh!
