In windows you can associate a file extension with an application; by default this file is then passed as a parameter to the application. Logically it would make sense to associate a .ssg file with the SimSig loader, and when you double click on it, it would automatically either resume the game or at least populates the "load a saved simulation" screen on the loader. There's a request for this on Mantis (#19361). As with all feature requests, it's up to Geoff to decide whether or not to implement it.

Another feature that could be added is a list of recent games which is displayed when any particular sim is selected in the New Game or Saved Games loader startup. That way, a direct shortcut to the saved game would exist and would free the player from navigating through the various folders every time a game is to be resumed. Just clicking or double-clicking the item in the list would directly fire up the individual sim and the game itself. This would also be helpful when we come back after an interval to Simsig and do not remember which game or sim was played during the last session. Khalid. Log in to reply |

Khalid, I just sort the folder view by date, which shows the last time a save file was added from each sim.
