I could never get into Cardiff Sim. Its layout is very confusing and you have to scroll back and fro to see whats going on at the platforms. A large station needs all its platforms to be visible without scrolling.

A large station needs all its platforms to be visible without scrolling.Having 2 view windows 1 above the other is the way to approach Cardiff if you don't have enough width to have the whole view without scrolling. Yeah, the setup in the sim is based on the real life design of the panel. What you want to do, is open a New View, and sit one view on top of the other (if you have enough space on your screen), scrolling them independently of one another, so you can quickly and easily monitor the whole station.
