Signal 439 (mid-platform signal on P3, Brighton) bug 03/01/2021 at 03:05 #135921 | |

-Despite no route being set to it, the TCs being clear, and the last train having left before, I was unable to cancel the route set from it to the buffers without triggering 120 seconds approach locking (the route being locked with a train in the platform is unsurprising - however it remaining locked after the train has left is) -Shortly thereafter, I set the route for 5A37 into P3, and tried to set the route from 439 to the buffers, but the simulation would not allow it. -Once the train moved in the platform, the signal cleared (approach released, I assume) to a caution aspect despite no route being set from it: in addition to the non-standard behaviour (the signal should not clear without a route being set), this causes track circuit TBPX (across the trailing points) to be showing occupied (in addition to TBPV and TBPZ, which are actually occupied by the train)! Picture and save game attached. Also is it just me or some routes (most noticeable in the station throat) take a significant amount of time (a few more seconds than you would expect) to clear once the train has left the relevant track circuits? I remember playing Brighton before and this was not an issue. Cheers, Alex Post has attachments. Log in to view them. Log in to reply |

Approach locking on relay interlockings usually latches if a track is occupied within its lookback and the signal is off. So even if that track becomes clear before the route is pulled, the latching causes the approach locking to kick in. Some routes are last wheel replaced which probably explains your delay. Not sure about the rest. However, it just occurred to me you're playing Brighton and not the newer Three Bridges. The latter is more true to life. I've also noticed this, but it usually cancels when an up train leaves, triggering the 2 minute timeout.

On my side it's inconsistent and I don't know what for exactly: sometimes I can cancel it right-away, sometimes it needs the timeout. The more annoying bug was the signal refusing to accept a route and then clearing to caution despite the route not being set.

For me, I have ARS but I have it so that my trains can show delay. I play with all the ARS turned off (In game), I don't have that problem but I have the ARS re-instates itself without me wanting it to.
