Curiosity has got the better of me.

In the timetable that I'm playing (please don't ask me which one) there are numerous trains that call at P3 at Peterborough but don't actually stop in the platform.
Why is this and why not send them via the Up Through instead?

That is pretty critical information...

If it's a recent timetable, remember that Peterborough station has been re-modelled, with bay platform 1 removed and a new platform (numbered P3 as the old P2 and P3 are now P1 and P2 respectively) built to serve the Up Through. I assume the platform number hasn't been changed to suit the sim layout either deliberately or accidentally.

As the image below (courtesy of Railcams) shows the remodelling. Obviously a modern TT that is incorrect and has not had the paths/linecodes modified

Ah. I did wonder if the timetable was for the recently updated track/platform layout but only because quite a few Up trains are scheduled via P1, which on the current sim isn't a through platform.

I shall study the layout which Meld has provided.

Thanks to both of you

F4 for timetable edit and the name is on the 'General' tab.
This is (or should be) synced with the filename on the PC.

Very simply:

Sim P1 has been abolished.
Sim P2 is now P1.
Sim P3 is now P2.
Sim doesn't have the new P3 on the Up Fast since it wasn't there in the sim era.
P4 and P5 are basically unchanged.
Sim doesn't have the new P6 and P7.

The track layout has also changed as well in that it's very different nowadays to what the sim portrayed as it was back then.

Yes. The new track layout makes conflicting moves much less likely.

Look forward to when a new sim is produced with the new layout.

The timetable has very specific notes in the description text to tell you what it is, what it isn't, and the Peterborough layout implications.

It is a (partially) fictional puzzle for the signaller to resolve, not an accurate 'how it was on DATE # ' that would run perfectly.

Very glad SWMBO doesn't come with such a high maintenance cost!
