I'm running Firefox v90 beta on Windows 10. A problem has arisen today and I'm wondering whether anything has gone belly up on my system. There is a timelag of about 20 to 30 seconds every time I open a new page on the SimSig web-site or Forum. A message "waiting for use.fontawesome.com..." shows at the bottom of the Firefox screen. The pages open without any lag in other browsers such as Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge (Chrome version) which seems to point the finger at Firefox. Is anyone else seeing a problem or is it just me? “In life, there is always someone out there, who won’t like you, for whatever reason, don’t let the insecurities in their lives affect yours.” – Rashida Rowe Last edited: 09/07/2021 at 20:18 by postal Reason: None given Log in to reply |

I'm running Chrome and on nearly every occasion when I click 'latest post' in a Forum subject I get a delay of up to about 15-20 seconds before the post appears. It also happens on the odd occasion when I click on a Forum subject although not very often. The word 'connecting' appears in the bottom left-hand corner of the screen which seems odd as I thought that I was already connected whilst running a sim dynamically. All this seemed to coincided with changing my anti-virus program so I put it down to that. I'm going to go back to using my previous anti-virus when this one expires after 12 months and hope that this will cure it. Everything that you make will be useful - providing it's made of chocolate. No issues here using Google Chrome Version 91.0.4472.124 & Microsoft Edge Version 91.0.864.67 both Windows 10 Pro 21H1 and Windows 11 21H1 Dev Build 10.0.22000.65.

Couple more points: 1) Mantis is not affected; pages are loading straight away 2) Clearing the browser cache (Ctrl + F5) when the page is lagging brings up the page straight away. However, moving to another SimSig page initiates the lagging again. “In life, there is always someone out there, who won’t like you, for whatever reason, don’t let the insecurities in their lives affect yours.” – Rashida Rowe Log in to reply |

And this morning everything seems to be working OK. The wonders of computer science never cease to amaze me.

Wonders of modern CDN, when they go down. There's a LocalCDN plugin for most common ones including those used by SimSig site, which saves a bit of bandwidth and prevents some potential tracking. EDIT: And saves one from occasions like this. Last edited: 10/07/2021 at 09:12 by JWNoctis Reason: None given Log in to reply The following user said thank you: postal |

See. My brain/memory has just malfunctioned yet again. I did use Chrome. In fact I still do for some things, but I now use Edge for most stuff.
