I was on 2L69 from Cardiff Central (depart 20:15) to Maesteg last night. We were running fine until after Pencoed, when we braked (normally) and then swung into the down loop at Tremains. We sat there for some time until we were passed by a GWR that turned out to be 1B29. Looking at realtimetrains, it seems there was plenty of time for us to make our stop and turn on to the branch before the GWR got there, but instead we got delayed 9 minutes waiting in the loop. So, was this a bad regulating decision or is there something I've overlooked? (I note 1B29 was 3 early into Port Talbot but 16 late departing, but that's not relevant.) Log in to reply |

2G72 was late coming off the branch. Regulated so you wouldn't hold up 1B29. Looks like it stemmed from 2L61 which was 12L leaving Cardiff and led to the knock on delays on the branch for the rest of the evening.

Ah, I missed that when trying to work it out. That makes much more sense. Thanks.
