Wasn't this an issue in loader 5.11 or something, where it would always state a version mismatch because the game was reading the wrong value for the savefile version?
Is it a possibility that slatteryc only has one loader installed, which is simply still on that older version?

That issue is still current – at the moment the loader only looks at the sim data compiler version instead of loader and sim data version. This affects both the warning dialogue and the "Technical Info" in the About dialogue ("Loader upgrade" will always show as false and "Sim upgrade" is only true when the compiler version changed after a sim data update).
Two million people attempt to use Birmingham's magnificent rail network every year, with just over a million of them managing to get further than Smethwick.

Not consistent then. I don't get these warnings when reloading saves from the same (and newest) version.

There is indeed no warning if the version numbers match.

Jan was saying that issue of always showing a version warning was still current, but it is not.

Moderator Note

I've split some posts off into a separate thread here as they're not directly relevant to dealing with the OPs issue.

As I read it, Jan was talking about comparing the wrong version numbers against each other - compiler versions rather than sim/loader versions. I haven't seen reports of errors that always appear - it seems to me those would have been caught rather early in testing.

Oh right, I should have read that post a little more closely before replying, sorry for the confusion. I was immediately thinking of the issue which is indeed still current (the version number check looking at the wrong kind of version) and had overlooked that that post was talking about something subtly different.
