Bug at Elford 21/01/2022 at 03:14 #143707

Reaching final stages of this timetable, I came across this odd situation. The trains appeared in this order from Derby. 4V69 is not timetabled to stop at Kingsbury, yet 6M24 is. 4V69 was held at Elford as normal, except... it seems to be held there indefinitely. I thought maybe if I obtain the slot at Kingsbury now, 4V69 would be released, but I was wrong; 4V69 was still held at Elford. Eventually, I gave permission to pass DY4 at danger (while examining the line), yet it still wont move!

Not really sure what else I can try. Save game is attached (before I give permission to pass signal at danger), and a small screenshot to show the order of trains.

Help!

On doing some further digging, it seems there is a similar issue raised here: the difference between situations is that 4V69 is in front rather than behind 6M24. Also, I never applied a reminder of any sort to the signal, so I doubt that is related to the issue.

Please can you supply a save game with the issue. One from just before the issue arises would help as well.

For content,an image shows what's going on on the face of it, but a save game will provide information on what's actually going on

It is in the attachments at the bottom, no?

Either way, I'll supply it here. Maybe it got lost in my edit. It should be attached now?

Also unfortunately I don't have a save game directly before it happens, since I cant really determine when exactly the bug occurs. The best I have is a snapshot at 22:00, where 4V69 is already in the loop waiting and 6M24 has appeared, but still rolling behind 4V69. The save file before that would be a save game at 20:20, not sure how much use it would be but I can include it here anyway. If you really want I could take that file and run it until 4M69 first appears if that would save time?

I've opened up the ssg to show the debug area and it's clear that the point into the loop is stuck reverse, and the point out of the loop is normal so the whole area's locked up.

I manually switched the exit point reverse but DY4 remained RED, if I switch the entrance point normal (and exit Normal) DY6 remains red.
I have a copy of the exe data but not the loader so can't comment much further on it.

Bit of trial end error I'm pretty sure the problem is that DY4 will not clear if there is a train in sim approaching from Derby - makes sense it's regulating the trains. However, that does not get us over the problem that the next train wants to use the loop too so we end up with a train on the line from Derby which wants to use the loop but the train in the loop won't leave because there's a train approaching from Derby.

If I delete all the queued trains then 4V69 moves off as expected - note that if the mainline route has already been set by the mainline train deleting it will leave the route set till a train passes and TORRs the route, so not a thing to do easily if you can't see the debug area.

Just a note for you Peter but that isn't the first time I've seen this bug appear as I have seen it appear before on a MP session a few months ago with exactly the same issue so hopefully as you've troubleshooted it so far it might go onto Mantis for further investigation to be resolved?
