In the launcher (v5.21), when joining a hosted game the sim selection screen has a only show owned/free simulations tick box.

Given that you can only join a game with sims you own a license to or are free, isn't this box redundant? Is there a way that this button could be omitted in a future version and just apply the filter by default to this list when joining a multiplayer game.

It’s the same common dialog box that’s used when starting a new sim. By default it shows the sims you *can’t* join as well, which seems like a useful default.

And if some people want a filtered view and others not, it would thus seem pointless changing the behaviour.

Thanks
Jamie

It's still useful, because you can join those sims. Controls are locked, though, so that no inputs can be made, but it's sometimes nice to spectate. That can be eg to get a better look at an approach area from a fringe in a multiplayer chain game.

Also useful to be able to open non-owned sims if we're not wanting to play a sim (this thing called work keeps getting in the way) but want to check some particular detail in responding to a thread on here.

True, but unless someone else has a host open you can't open the sim from the multiplayer join a multiplayer sim option

Didn't know that was a feature - suppose it comes of not trying it (difficult to test on your own, but I found a way). I withdraw my suggestion

I'd worked out it was the same form, but with a different title and continuation button. As I've established above with Dionysusnu's response there's a (undocumented?) feature I didn't know about where you get read only access to a host, which AFAIK surprises me as the interface gateway requires a user credentials and a license for an IG connection to a sim. If some people want it filtered and some not, Could it be made that the state of this box is non-volatile where it is remembered in the launch of a new launcher, like how the user credentials are remembered, such that those who want the filter checked don't need to re-check it on launch of a new launcher window.

On another note (as hinted to above) I've found a way to start the server when in demo mode, should I report the method here or in another thread?

No please don't start another thread or post here in this thread. PM either GeoffM or Headshot119 directly
