A quick look in my computer filing system revealed that I have asked the same or a very similar question before but I can’t find it or any response to it in the Forum. In fact, it would appear that I didn’t quite understand the response anyway, so any answers to this post should be in a layman’s language please. The failure occurred after I had set a route for 4R11 towards Thorne South and the Kirton Lane crossing. The Wiki states the following: “All you can do is run trains through the one arm of the points still available” As the route appeared to prove before the failure (at least to me it did as it was highlighted in white), I sent 4R11 towards the points but it stopped and I was advised that the points were set against the train. Am I doing something wrong, or is there nothing that I can do in this particular situation? I have attached a saved game and can provide a save at 07.40 if it's required. ... Post has attachments. In the very simplest interpretation - 4R11 needs to stay where it is until the points are fixed. You should never authorise a train over a flashing set of points. There’s a more complex answer that may allow movement of 4R11; but if you want to keep it simple it stays there. Log in to reply The following user said thank you: bugsy |

The route being white does not mean that the route has proved. It means it has been called. This is an important distinction. Calling a route causes the points to be swung to match, and only when they have locked and detected is it possible for the route to prove. If you watch closely the next time you set a route across a junction, you can see this process in operation - the route will light up white immediately, before the points have swung over, but only once the points are in place will the signals start to change.
