Here, we have train 2G40, running over 30 minutes late. 2A18 is waiting to join to 2G40, but 2G40 refuses to pull forward to join to 2A18, despite the shunt signal being set. The train status keeps changing between "Waiting for joining train 2A18", "Train 2A18 in front", and "Moving at 0 mph". Any ideas? Timetable is November 2020. Post has attachments. Just going off the posted pic, the signal is cleared for 2G40 to proceed towards 2A18, when actually 2G40 is waiting for 2A18 to attach to it, so the position light in the opposite direction should be cleared, surely?

If 2G40 was running on time then you would be correct. Log in to reply |

Reversing 2A18 to the starter signal sorts this out, it's a quirk of SimSig if the trains arrive out of order.

Maybe also a bit of real life. If you were the driver of the 'first' train would you go and join anything in the same platform on the assumption it was the 'second' train ? The 'second' train could be even later. So a level of manual intervention is not unreasonable. It is also more likely to manifest itself at 'complex' stations (New St. Edinburgh) than simpler ones (Glasgow QS, Westbury) Bill Log in to reply |

Also, the 2 trains may be different types of unit and (to my totally non-knowledge) the driver may not be signed to drive the front unit, or the following aspects of both trains diagrams may require the 2A18 unit to depart 1st from the rear of the joined train at it's destination.
