I have an idea for an improvement in the loader around save selection when trying to load a saved game. At the moment we get thrown to a file selection dialog with very unfriendly (and sometimes not obvious) folder names corresponding to each simulation. We then have to find the sim we want, then the specific save file we want. I suggest integrating the selection of a save file into the loader, in a similar fashion to the "Start a new simulation" screens, where we would be shown a list of simulations and their licenced status, then when a simulation is selected the saves show in a list similarly to how the timetable selection screen currently works. This I feel would be a huge improvement over the current method. Here's some mock-ups of how that might look: (Formerly known as manadude2) Log in to reply The following user said thank you: dhouk |

How would you propose being able to load a save game that is not saved in the simulation folder then? 2 examples being; I download a users SSG to test an issue. I currently save that to my downloads and access it from there I have a testing set up on my computer that is a separate folder set up to the public versions. If I want to test a save game on 2 different versions of the sim, I currently load the save, then in the drop down get presented with a list of the different sim versions I have installed and select which one I want to load the save on. I wouldn’t want to have to save the same save game twice to have it show up in each of the versions of the sim I have installed Log in to reply |

Hi @y10g9 I'm not going to delve into individual use-cases here, I don't feel I'm the appropriate person to work that out as I am merely suggesting an improvement to the overall process. I didn't know you could select a different version of a sim from the dropdown as I've never had to do that. Having said that, there is a nice space under the save selection box where a sim version dropdown could possibly appear... (Formerly known as manadude2) Log in to reply |

You would need to have a manual 'choose' selection as well, ie the current option. A fair few other software has that, you get the recent/frequents and then a 'choose your own' to deal with downloads, desktop etc Log in to reply |

An interesting idea. I'd definitely like the ability to at least quickly pick up whatever was the last 'save' I was using even if it was limited to just picking up where I left off rather than having a choice of saves. User | Multiplayer Host | Timetable Writer Log in to reply |

Windows already keeps a list of recently saved/opened files. The only problem is that there's currently no way of launching a saved simulation by just directly opening a .ssg-file from that LRU list.
