Hello Guys I am currently creating a M-Th timetable for the Victoria line based on TFLs WTT 42 commencing 16/09/2019. First, the schoolboy error. I have mistakenly configured around 700 trains as 'normal' instead of 'light' and as 'diesel' instead of 4th rail DC. Whilst this is annoying and discredits the realism somewhat, would it have a big impact on acceleration and deceleration rates....which leads me on to question 2. Once the AM peak starts hotting up, trains begin to stack and bunch up between Seven Sisters and WC. I have noticed that this section of line seems to be standard, fixed block, as none of the signals in this section change to white as they do south of Seven Sisters. To fix this, I have had to thin the Northbound service out and turn numerous trains back at NPD rather than them continuing to WC as booked. This has alleviated the problem but again means the TT is not authentic. Is my 1st train classification error perhaps the cause of this? Or was the SIM based on the old Vic line ATO prior to the commissioning of CBTC? I imagine I am going to have the same problem when the evening peak starts. Cheers as always. Log in to reply |

The Weight in the Train Category is a little counter-intuitive. Normal is actually the one you want, as this category is the least affected by gradients. I almost always use this for passenger trains, except some of the big jobs (such as the Brisbane Limited and Pacific Coast Motorail in an upcoming New South Wales timetable as these are 14 cars or so). Light is generally used for goods trains that are lightly loaded for their length. As for changing the power type, if you simply change the power category in the train type, it will change all other trains assigned that train type, so that's a two second fix. Jriver in post 153632 said: I have noticed that this section of line seems to be standard, fixed block,The old Victoria Line signalling system as simulated by SimSig was entirely fixed block, white aspects do not change that.* The entire line was fixed block, it's just that not all blocks had a colour light signal at the start. You are right though that north of Seven Sisters there were no white aspects but that just meant there were no blocks between signals and no reduced overlaps (not sure what the term would have been). Capacity north of Seven Sisters was indeed less. DTG-R has much higher capacity, at least according to the marketing and they certainly lay on many more trains than they did under the system simulated by SimSig. I understand overlaps are shorter and the trains also accelerate and brake so harshly you wonder if they were really intended to carry passengers at all, it's certainly not a comfortable ride. However I believe it is technically also fixed block, though I can't say I understand very much about it. *Though the white aspects at home signals are a bit of an interesting grey area as I understand they did allow a second train to enter a block (specifically the one including the station platform) as the first one was leaving it with the codes protecting the departing train but it was still very much based on fixed points. Thanks - Unfortunately they slipped through under the category of custom so not sure your suggestion will work. Or am I missing something?

Ah, if you've only used "Custom", then you'll either need to create a stock type and assign that to each train, or you will need to manually amend each train's data. The Kiwi Sorry guys, I am in the business of making people wait! Log in to reply |
