One of the engines, which detached itself off the front of the empty carriage train, was delayed for an hour at the platform due to police attendance at 5:40 in the morning. Driver got assaulted by a homeless person after getting off the train for a smoke?

I don't think the fact that a train driver has been assaulted is remotely amusing.

Certainly not in real life, no. For context, it's probably more that it looks weird that there were no delays to the other section of the train, only to the detached front part

But certainly didn't mean to put anyone offside. Probably "interesting" would have been a better choice of wordsI just always like to conceptualise the reasons for train delays (which, as people pointed out elsewhere, can be quite random) and try to imagine a real life situation where they would occur:)

Peace!

A more obvious scenario is that the driver found an unknown item whilst walking through the loco or in the other cab or saw something suspicious from the loco and reported it it for further investigation by the Police/BTP

Once in a blue moon you get gems like
Quote:
07:45:25 1N02 delayed at Shoreham By Sea due to door problems, expected to depart at about 07:50
07:53:54 1N02 delayed at Southwick due to door problems, expected to depart at about 08:00
08:01:02 1N02 delayed at Portslade due to unexplained reasons, expected to depart at about 08:05
Although I guess it does help that Lancing is such a small sim, so the chance of successive delays affecting the same train is merely minuscule, not astronomically minuscule.

Two million people attempt to use Birmingham's magnificent rail network every year, with just over a million of them managing to get further than Smethwick.

Third time the driver thought it'd be self explanatory

Or didn't want to admit to the boot-shaped hole in the door

I'd say more realistic !

I recall having to manual 'prompt' a door on a 321 from Witham to Liverpool St.
Driver wondered how it had fixed itself until I told him - he'd been having to walk back each stop from Clacton !

I like that explanation
