With one week to go, is there any chance of seeing any snippets of what we have to look forward to on Doncaster Station or the others. A couple titbits to wet the tastebuds, so to speak? I mean last year didn't have a snippet and that just added to the excitement on the day.

Donny station is a bit of a misnomer, it only covers the through lines, if you want platfoms you'll have to wait!

Guts in post 154019 said:When you were a member of the developer / tester community the answer was always NO not until released. So why would you think this approach has changed. Even now the sim is still being tested so it would not be appropriate to drop an image in which could mislead the users when it is presented to them. This is not lording it over anybody else, this is simply to ensure the final product is released without negative feedback from users about things that have potentially changed in the meantime. It is unfortunate you appear to be having a sense of humour failure. Not to mention the request was for a snippet, which is defined as “a small piece or brief extract” by Google, and that is essentially what Hap provided.

That snippet is actually identifiable If you know the area. In the interest of moving on, can anyone outside the testing team identify the signal IDs and location? "We don't stop camborne wednesdays" Log in to reply |

My guess would be signals 256 and 271 just south of Doncaster station.

agilchrist in post 154021 said:Guts in post 154019 said:Guys, no one in this group doubts the dedication that developers and testers provide to SimSig, but most of us in here are Adults, but we are not too old to be excited or looking forward to new Sims. When you were a member of the developer / tester community the answer was always NO not until released. Doncaster Station has been announced, we're not talking about a Sim that no one knows about, yes there may be untested bits, yes it may not be fault free when we see it next week, but it's out there. What would be the harm in showing the layout to us users. So I ask for a snippet, for everyone and you throw water on everyones fire with 2 signals with no context other than a couple of line designations. How can this be seen as welcoming? Enticing? or 'come and buy this'? It almost felt like if a child asked a parent for a bit of an upcoming dinner and they literally throw you a Brussel Sprout and close the door laughing. How can that be funny? You do Lord it over us, because you're in the know about it all and we're not, I get it, but there are better ways of interacting with people. You are NEVER EVER going to be able to deal with everyones negativity, people are negative about everything; most of us in here understand that things get missed, like I said we get that you guys put in tons of work around your regular lives, but we're not children. I like a joke as much as anyone else, I'm always laughing at the Meets, they're fantastic and I have so much fun there, but i think we need more laughs in here, rather than a slapping down every time. We all know the standard answer 'It's ready when it's ready' Anyway, I hope everyone is having a good weekend. Last edited: 12/11/2023 at 11:45 by Guts Reason: None given Log in to reply |

I can assure you I don't need advice on the english language, everyone knew what I meant by snippet and it wasn't Two Signals. Like I said, most of us are adults in here, treat us a such. Its a simple request. Should I put this in the Suggestions Channel?? Would this be the better place to make changes, as 'suggested'? LOL (NB. If its not funny, let me know) Log in to reply |

It used to be as bit of a tradition before a meet where a new sim was going to be shown for the first time for a snippet to be posted in the forum in the week(s) before the meet (the sort of snippet posted above), the full layout (or even a partial Layout) was never posted until the meet had started.

Come on now. These were both examples of dumb replies to genuine interest. You'll notice mainly developers or 'people in the know' responded. This is a great example of Lording the secrecy over the rest of us, so in that I thank you. [thumbs up] I've had people agree with my sentiment, so showing me silly examples doesn't make this post of two signals correct or right. This personally is the Sim I've been waiting for, so you'll gladly see less of me on the Forum which I'm sure everyone will be much happier about and you can drop these 'jokes' to your hearts content. I'll come on to post Hosts and that's it. If someone makes a complaint or doesn't like a response or post, it should be respected not ridiculed or justified, just treat that person or persons with respect. These 'so-called' justification' or 'backing up' posts just emphasises the lack of respect. This is my last post on this subject. Good day. Log in to reply |

None of this is going to get anyone anywhere. I recommend just moving on and saving your excitement for Saturday. You won't have long to wait after the meet for it to be released either and then you can play it till your hearts content. Log in to reply |

As I emerge back into the land of the living after what feels like far too many night shifts... We generally (I'll never say never as we might have done it once or twice previously *1 *2) do not post full views of the new simulations in use at a meet ahead of time, that is mainly as we like to give people who travel to attend the meet a first look in person before we post it on the forum. Hap has made a joke, which I think was indicated quite well with the smiley on the end of his post, and while it may not have been taken the way it was intended by Guts or another person who messaged me away from the public forum, no harm or insult was meant by it. Others seem to have taken it in the spirit it was intended. Hopefully we can move on with this thread now, we plan to release Doncaster Station a day or two after the meet, but a screenshot of it will appear on the forum on Saturday. There may also be a second screenshot of another simulation appearing as well! Guts in post 154038 said: Oopps I'm backI appreciate you saying this is what people want to see, however this was released after people at that particular meet had a chance to look at it first, which is what we intend to do with Doncaster Station. *1 Crewe was shown via Twitch and then on the forum following the "virtual" mega chain. *2 I think Newport might have been shown on the forum a couple of weeks before it was released but I can't for the life of me remember if that was after it was shown at a meet in Sheffield or not.
