Hello all
Have a troublesome TCF in Patcham Tunnel, currently being worked on by engineers under a block.

Could I send a train down the Down, terminate at Hassocks, and start short from Hassocks, working up the Down?
After changing ends would it be as simple as getting a verbal from TBASC? For those not familiar with Three Bridges, simplified bi-directional signalling is installed on this section, hence the signal layout.

Thanks in advance
Tom

If you're asking whether you could do that move in real life the answer is no. Having set the route in the Down direction, the return Up direction movement would be going against the Down direction arrow so the only vaguely legitimate way you could do it would be to implement Rule Book module P2 Working single and bi-directional lines by pilot as effectively you'd be working to/from a point of obstruction. But even then it's dubious at best.

In Simsig, I don't see how you'd manage to stop the train at Hassocks in the Down direction for it to reverse.

I know its not helpful for this scenario but just a similar situation.

At Winchester Platform 2 is the normal Down Platform and Platform 1 is the normal Up Platform. Both lines are signaled SIMBIDs. You can't reverse a Down Train in Platform 1.

While this wouldn’t be done normally, this has been done in an emergency. There has been cases of trapped trains going back North having been travelling South. Although after the trapped trains it was a case of terminating and restarting at Haywards Heath I think.

I’m not qualified to comment on how it’s done, I’ve just seen it happen in emergency situations where trains are trapped.

You can’t do by signalling alone as the signalling won’t allow it, you would have to bring in P2 working which I have done in real life when we had flooding between Hassocks and Preston Park.
