Phoning North Sidings question

In the manual, it says "Permission is required to enter York Yard North from Y243/245/247 and Y262/312/666."

Now the part I don't understand is if a train is being signalled into that location from Signal Y243, I than get a error message saying train did not have permission /(York Yard North Y248) which is the exit signal for York North Sidings onto the slow lines in the direction of Leeds/Doncaster.

How come there also isn't a option to select Y243 in the drop down menu when offering trains to York North Sidings either? There is a option for Y248 but shouldn't that actually be Y243 instead because surely the person in charge at that location will ring up to present a departure indeed the manual does say "The yard will phone you to inform of a departing train."

Just confused why I need to ring them using the exit signal as the entry signal :/

The exit arrows for the respective locations are actually named after the signals - 248X and 253X.

The signals are a guide to indicate which end of the yard you are phoning. If it was York Yard North South End and York Yard North North End it would be confusing for most people.

I disagree about the part highlighted in bold text, If you're the signaller setting the route from Y243 which happens to be the last signal into the North Sidings than surely common sense should have the option of place call to and you select York Yard North (Y243) and wait for permission to be granted by the person in charge before setting a route into that location?

If the person in charge however is presenting the train from that location than the phone call should just happen automatically.

There's no need for Y243 to be listed as York Yard North South End at all, in theory it ought to work like it does for Nene Sidings in Peterborough.

It wouldn't just be Y243 though would it, it would need to be Y243/245/247 and a separate option for Y262/312/666. It is a stylistic choice from the developer though. On some sims it is Up and Down end or North and South end, on some sims it's the entrance signal numbers, and on others it's the exit signal numbers.
