Hi all,

Using the Cowlairs August 2006 timetable on New Cowlairs Mode, Data Version 5.6.

I've managed to bugger myself with an overlength train into platform 5 (see screenshot). I'm trying to send in 1T08 (69m) where 2W65 already is (46m). The platform length is 171m (7 vehicles). I've tried cancelling and resetting the route to no avail, but am I missing something here?

Many thanks!

JT

I had similar issues with Cowlairs, I suspect the station stops are based on the departure signal location rather than the buffer stop location
I amended all arrivals to FX and the majority of issues were removed

The thing works on measured train lengths.
Have you got a save as I need to interrogate the data.

As I suspected the axle counter total was wrong, how that happened is the question.
Did you hand of god remove any trains from Plat 5?

The attached file has been corrected.

Did not see that issue at all in testing of the 2006 TT before release (nor in CScot).

Many thanks! No, I’ve done quite well so far and not had to hand of God anywhere. Only thing might have been some TD berth interposing/tidying but I’m guessing that’s not linked to the axle counter system?

The pseudo axle counter summates the train length going in and out, somehow you'd got it up to something like 207m (from memory).

Has it calculated on TCs occupied but not accounted for only part of the train occupying the TC? If the platform doesn't fully empty (presumably hard-resetting the counter to 0 in the process) you could end up accumulating at lot of extra 'length' that doesn't exist?

Irritatingly, it seems to have gone wrong again. No hand of God or similar. File attached, is there anything I can do to fix this?

Sorry to be a nuisance and thanks in advance,

I'm assuming the code includes the provision to zero the counter when all tracks are unoccupied? Regardless of whether that is present in the actual field equipment or not, you'd want that in SimSig.

While I try and work out what's going on the fix is to change the .ssg to .zip, within that you will find the main file. In that search for VPLATn where n is the plat number ( I think that's the variable but it's something close to that) and edit that to the correct length and then reverse the process.

It's VTOTALPn that's the variable.

However I've found how to reproduce the incorrect counting, just need to work out what's tripping it and how to fix it.
In the meantime, I suggest you avoid routing trains over points 753 reversed.
How we've managed to go for 15 years or so without this being identified previously I don't know.

I've also enabled some hidden code I used when testing and probably intended to be in the release - I can't recall why it was not. Anyway, the attached save should work and opens up a display of the lengths and provides a phone call to ask for the counters to be reset. I think I'll leave that in for the next release.

Apologies all, I've been somewhat busy with real life work and unable to spend as much time on this!

Many thanks for all your efforts, it's much appreciated. I'll let you know how it all pans out.

Seems to be behaving thus far - will let the thread know the next time I'm having issues!

Many thanks

EDIT - Update - working well. Those S&T guys are pretty quick off the mark once you've buzzed them!
