Using Carlisle PSB ECML Diversions 21-09-2024. Just 2 hours in and already getting some instances of trains being delayed for >5 minutes for no apparent reason. The most notable example of this is 1M11 somehow getting delayed by 7 minutes between Carlisle and Penrith. The train left on time at 01:45:07, and only passed Penrith by 02:08:06. There are no TSRs, nor is the train running without a loss of power. Looking at timetables online confirmed that this the timetable is correct. So what's going on here? Log in to reply |

Thanks for this, I have checked all the sleepers within the timetable and it seems the train in train type is set to Medium intercity, I have changed these back to High (Commuter) and all the sleepers pass each timing point on time. I will push out an updated timetable soon. Freight will be 50/50 due to the inclines out of Carlisle to Plumpton & Eden Valley to Shap Summit (South Only) and Oxenholme to Grayrigg & Tebay to Shap Summit (North Only).

If you want to be really finicky you could set up two different train types for a train with higher and lower acceleration rates and switch between them on the fly using the timetable option to select a new category at the location where you want to change the acceleration rate (so maybe high acceleration going up the bank and normal from the summit). At one stage when the 1979 TT was under development I ran some test trains through non-stop with different acceleration rates and pulled out the data from the log file to create a spreadsheet showing the observed times from timing point to timing point for each of the acceleration rate/weight combinations to try and find the best fit timings.
