Why does the Uckfield berth work in the way that it does, with the need to interpose into the departure berth via a seperate setup one? The manual describes it as a hidden berth but doesn't explain the why of it. I don't think I've seen this kind of setup thing outside of yards where multiple sidings share the same berth etc. It certainly seems weird and overcomplicated for an incredibly simple single track terminus. First northbound signal protects Greenhurst Junction, so possibly related to that? There's no signal at Uckfield itself.
