I'm having trouble getting 5B01 to depart from Waverley using the timetable supplied. 1B01 joined to 1B16 in Platform 11 and 5B01 splits off. At 5B01's departure time it reports 1M16-1 in front. As I understand it 5B01 is at the East end of Platform 11 and needs to depart East to reverse in Calton tunnel so I can't see how a train at the West end of P11 can be in front of it. I'd be grateful if anyone can tell me where I'm going wrong please. Andy L Update: I should have searched more thoroughly before posting - just seen an explanation in the timetables section! I had the same problem. As part of 1B01 was still in platform 10 when the joining was complete I shunted forward the whole train into platform 11 behind E456 then reversed directions before 5B01 is split off. This has worked for me.

Thanks for the tip. It took a bit of fiddling around but I got there in the end. Additionally somehow I had a route set from shunt signal E819 which wouldn't clear so the departure of 1M16-1 didn't go smoothly but it's on its way now! I'll have to run this through again to see if it's a mistake I'm making somewhere. Andy L Log in to reply |

I think it might be a dividing code error in the timetable, a DF instead of a DR (or visaversa). I had the same problem and had to run 5B01 out of P11 into Mound Tunnels then back again via SLS and Carlton.

It's 1B01 causing the problem, as I thought the DF: 5B01 needs to be changed to DR. Having sorted that one another problem arises. When 1M16 arrives it goes round 1M16-1 in P11 via SLW to get to P10, then reverse into P11 and joins 1M16-1. Problem is 1M16-1 is too long and blocks the crossovers in the middle of the platforms, so 1M16 cannot get to P10. Sorted by changing the length to 150m, but this obviously is not good practise. You cannot shunt forward because 1M16-1 doesn't have a loco. I think you would have to reverse and shunt forward 1B16 when that arrives, although it says stopping position is Near end already. Any ideas? Log in to reply |

I got around it by getting 1B01 to shunt forward after it had joined but prior to the day coaches splitting off. That clears the crossover and allows 1M16 to go round the back and join. You do have to watch when adding the electric loco to the front end though, as it won't move behind the platform starter when coupling up. I had to reverse the train and shunt forward to get it to clear. GM Log in to reply |

can you post snaposhots/saves of the problem?, that way we can see if it's a timetable bug or user stupidity. I've played through to 09:00 sim time and have had no major issues. Log in to reply |

Playing with TORR on, ARS off. I routed 1B16 in to platform 11 as per timetable, then 1B01 via South Loop West in to platform 10. Set main route for 1B01 from platform 10 to platform 11, got both shunt signals cleared. 1B01 moved forward and joined to 1B16. Unfortunately, this union blocks the scissors AND even after 5B01 moves off via platform 10 to Calton tunnel North the scissors are still blocked by 1M16-1. Therefore, how do I get 1M16 in to platform 10... I tried making 1M16-1 reverse directions, but it didn't move. I tried to get it to abandon the timetable - "No engine", so it didn't move either. Ok, so time to re-start the sim and ensure the 1B16 is actually as far to the down end as possible: No change to the above. Can't route 1M16 in to platform 11 as 1M16-1 is in the way, and can't route 1M16 in to platform 10 via the South Loop West line as 1M16-1 is also in the way here.... I'm assuming that I've moved the trains correctly in the first place, and that it's not magically sorted by running with ARS enabled, therefore it would appear to be a timetable error OR a train length error. I've posted a solution to this above already - change the length of 1M16-1 to 150m, this will clear the crossover.

Afternoon all, I compiled the TT for the Scottish sims and the sleeper part was the hardest of all, that said the TT should not be causing these problems other than the occasional wrong end devide mentioned above, this is a known problem in that the train sometimes 'forgets' it's direction causing the wrong end devide, it is being worked on though, the other problems should not be occuring so can I please ask you to read the manual, check the notes on the devides/joins and try again and let me know, I will monitor all posts regarding this as it took me months to get it right and apologise for any dificulties you are all reporting. So please try again, use the f2 screen during the activities to moitor and best of luck. Thanks James Log in to reply |

the 1B01/1B16 join will work and clear the scissors, providing you shunt the joined portions forward after joining but before splitting the day coaches from the eastern end - it's fiddly, but doable (took me two attempts). Likewise getting the electric loco (0M16-2) to join and move back behind the platform 10 starter. Another one to watch for is the reverse move (i.e attaching the day coaches to the northbound sleeper) - that'll happily sit in the Motorail bay after its scheduled departure time without phoning in to complain (I didn't spot it until 04.28). That then throws a couple of ECS moves from Craigentinny out, as they can't access the station whilst the loco for 1Y11 is doing its reversal move in Carlton tunnel. GM Log in to reply |

Sorry about the phone bit, I did have bespoke calls rather than from the hidden signals but there was a flaw in the code so were withdrawn at the last moment. Hopefully tehre will be a solution in the fullness of time. Same applies to GFs in some cases. Peter I identify as half man half biscuit - crumbs! Log in to reply |

Evening all, have now run the public version of both sim and TT and am unable to get any of the reported problems with the first sleeper (Scot to Eust). Can I ask the next time this occurs can you save the game at several intervals and send to me/upload to forum for me to analyse and try to 'fix'. Also can a few users who have managed to complete the sleeper part of the TT (not any of the testers, sorry) post their experience so I can then gauge how big or small a problem this is. This TT was tested for over a year so to see these problems are very frustrating for me as well as you, please keep trying and keep me updated on any thing you may do differently from game to game that makes the sleeper's work after previously failing. Thanks for your help in trying to make this a better sim. J Log in to reply |

I had run the TT several times with various results (engine detaching at wrong end or 1B01/1B16 fouling p11/p10 crossover) but this seemed to be random and changing things either in the TT (e.g. divide front instead of divide rear) or physically (e.g. changing the direction a portion was facing) didn't give consistent results. On my journey home from Peterborough I looked at it closely and created a smaller, custom timetable with all the portions seeding at Mound Tunnel but retaining the timetable details for the route into and joins at Waverley. After much fiddling I changed all of the instructions for engines being removed (on 1B16 and 1M16-1) from DivideF (DF) or DivideR (DR) to DetachF (DEF) or DetachR (DER) and I have run both my custom timetable and the relevant section of the full timetable through a few times and the joins/divides work without any intervention from me each time. (That is apart from ARS interposing at odd times and F2 reporting that the portions are in Waverley East/P10 when they are actually in Waverley West (P11) - not sure if this is a known issue.) I'm still having trouble with trains 1M16, 1M16-1 and 0m16joining on platform 10 and 11. I've tried changing the length of train 1M16-1 to 150m with no luck still won't join. I've also tried the shunt forward and reverse direction on trains 1m16 and on train 0m16 with no joy either I'm begining to think the only way i can get round it is to remove the offending trains. I'm wondering if the authour would take a look at it as this may be a bug in the sim. I'm having play my other boxes as i can't proceed with Edinburgh.

The 04:45 start timetable (produced for the meet) is now available in the downloads area if you want to bypass the Up sleepers.

Sloppyjag, thanks for your reply, your suggestion has been tried and was not implemented only because the oddity of the loco devides did not surface until the latest code release and has only come to light since the public release, that said, I have put your suggestion in the updated TT, run it three times and have not had a 'wrong end' detatch, so at this moment I can't say for certain this is a finished solution but can suggest others reading this post with similar difficulties might like to amend their TT with detatch in place of devide and try that.

bharrison, dont give, up the sleepers are complicated but do work, albeit with above mentioned difficulties. Could you please give me a detailed run down of your particular problem and with a bit of luck we can work through it together, and hopefully you will be able to run the complete TT and enjoy the sim, as that is what it is about..........enjoyment.

OK, I'm a tester but have given it a run with ARS on and minimal interventions. It worked flawlessly for me apart from a couple of interposes. Noted that: 1B16 stopped at the west end as timetabled, so there is a free TC east of it. Both 1B16 and 1B01 moved when joining. Therefore using DEF will change things. 1B16 became 'joining' before 1B01 became 'joining' and this resulted in an 'up' facing 1B01 after the join and therefore the DF:5B01 is appropriate. No blocked crossover even with 5B01 still in 11 (take it out via SLE and Abbeyhill) So to those *not* getting that sequence, where do you it break from this ? On another run I did have bother joining 1M16 and 1M16-1 though, (save on its' way of that game). Had to go to F2 edit timetable on 1M16 and then OK it, at which point all was well, so looks like 1M16 stopped short of the 'joining reach' distance and needed to enter P11 again to find 1M16-1. I have a two quick questions abut the o4:45 start timetable for Edinburgh box. How do I get rid of the on screen pop up messages and make them appear in the message box at the top of the screen? as they are getting in the way when I try to set routes for trains and the Interpose box. My next question is how do you set the start time to automaticly show the start time when you set the sim up like it does on the default timethables? Log in to reply |

a) go to <Show|Options> [F3], select the 'Messages' tab and untick the 'Pop-up message box' for the relevant types of message. b) The start time of a timetable is set in the General tab of the TT when starting the game. It's starting to put me off this box now as I'm not enjoying it as i have measges poping up every 30 seconds in the main panel view window that even with the pop up box checked or unchecked so there must be a fault some where. Sure you've selected the right message type before unchecking the box - specifically the "Train entering system" item?
