Running this sim in the modern era, where what was formerly Oxenholme DGL is now marked 'DW', presumably Down Windermere, I have a query. At various loops on various sims it is possible to stand a train on the main line and route a train around it through the adjacent loop. I brought a Network Rail Ultrasonic Test Unit 3Q12 (one I added) to a stand on the Down Main at SCE46 Signal for its planned opstop (booked in the loop but kept main line to avoid losing recording mileage, (this does happen at various locations)) with the intention of running a following freight (6C61) round it while it performed its opstop. I was able to call a route from CE38 - CE45 DML - DW and from CE45 DW - CE61 DML but CE38 would not clear as 6C61 approached so I had to get 3Q12 on its way. As soon as T88 track circuit in rear of SCE46 Sig cleared after the passage of 3Q12, CE38 Sig cleared towards the Down Windermere. Is this by design?

Regards,

Phil.

It doesn't look right. At a guess, the TC needs to be clear in case of a runaway past CE49/51 on the DM, *or* train routed away from that TC - in other words, routed from 38to 46. That final condition is probably missing.

Thanks Geoff.

There are plenty of instances where UTU's are booked into loops for regulation purposes because of our low recording speed but doing that causes us to lose recording of a short stretch of the main line, so it is not unknown for us to ask to be allowed to stand on the main at various locations on the network for a following service to pass via the adjacent loop (sometimes we are even timed to do it). This was what I was trying to achieve in this instance but the interlocking in the sim prevented it.

Phil.
