Evening all, Working on a new TT for Kings Cross which features a lot of trains starting from & terminating at Finsbury Park, plus a lot of related ECS movements. But a quick thought. I have started writing in at least some of the 1Cxx trains between Finsbury Park and Cambridge and I note that all the ones I have so far start from Platform 8 and are booked to use SL2 (the slow line normally used by trains from, for example, Kings Cross to Ferme Park CS) as far as Alexandra Palace where they pass through on the FL, Platform 3. However I am surprised they are not booked to work SL1 instead after leaving Finsbury Park, considering that the modern layout would allow access to SL1 from Platform 7 there. Has anyone else heard of in-service passenger trains using the SL2 line from Finsbury Park to Alexandra Palace IRL? Dave Last edited: 15/04/2014 at 21:16 by DaveHarries Log in to reply |

Yes, in the evening peak, I believe a number of trains use the SL2. It's ideal for Hertford trains not calling at Harringay and Hornsey e.g. 2F08 in the current timetable.

Correct, I've been on one of the peak ones for the purpose of going on the SL2 line. These should be marked in the line paths. I think this now works the other way too on the other SL1 (GL in the sim) but not done that bit of track yet.

Perhaps the down slow 1 is shut for engineering works too on the date you're writing for? On a weekday I'd gestimate around 15 passenger services in each direction use the up/down slow 2, as previously mentioned all semi-fast Hertford loop services. Up trains run as 2Uxx instead of 2Jxx to denote that's it's booked up slow 2. Log in to reply |
