System Files being blocked by Norton 21/12/2016 at 21:59 #91041

Hello,

I have just joined and have attempted to download the system files from the system files page. It appears to download but then Norton analyses it and does not like it and then deletes it. Have you had this problem previously - is there something I need to do?

Many thanks

John

You need to tell Norton to ignore the file, it is a false positive.

I deleted some posts because we should not be saying what was said about other software.

We weren't, I was, I've said it before and I'll say it again.

Why should we not be saying it? I'd rather you refute my comments than just delete them. Norton has come up time and time again, I have no doubt it'll crop up in the future too. I wouldn't ever recommend it, even if people have spent money on it it's always better to switch to something else.

Sorry that you took that stance Peter. Sacro was only saying what he believes to be true and quite frankly his comments were no different to what you would see on any web page containing critical reviews about same or similar software. It was also an opinion as to why the originally posted problem may have occurred.
Whilst not agreeing with him in my post that you deleted I am quite frankly at a total loss as to what I said wrong or could be construed in the way it was.

The offending post was quoted in your post then requoted in the subsequent post to that and would make no sense as a stand-alone post.

"Not recommending" is not how you expressed it earlier.

I have taken the proactive step and asked Norton/Symantec to incluced the Simsig Systemfiles on there whitelist.

I have finilly been notified that they will be added to the whitelist, this can take upto 24hrs (their words not mine)

This will only be for SimSigsystem4.5.13.7.exe, and associated exes of this version.

Any subsequent updates would also need to be asked to be incluced.

Thanks Mark, if that works then that's the more constructive approach.
