129 posts 		I was just browsing pc rail as I do normally to see what new trail sims they have and I looked to day and to my surprise they have a simulation for Earls Court District Line Station which includes to the west west kensington and to the east it has the triangle sidings and high street ken for circles and Gloucester Road for E/B districts well worth a look at the layout.

I really hope I havent upset anyone on SimSig management for mentioning this I just was so surprised as I thought LUL sims couldnt be done.

3685 posts 		i see no reason why not? its just 2/3 aspect signalling like the national network. theres the drain and also wembley sub caters for underground workings

476 posts 		I did try this as a previous PC Rail customer. The signalling operation is weird. Simsig is easier (what am I saying? lol).

77 posts 		The only thing I use PC Rail for is semaphore, simply because it is the only semaphore sim I can find other than SIAM, which is extremely basic graphically.

131 posts 		The signalling operation is based on push button control of IMR's (Interlocking Machine Rooms) The IMR's normally route and signal trains though the signaller can take push button control. The IMR's have various modes as I do not recall them from the top of my head I will not attempt to list them. Also each allowable route from a signal has its own push button.

Tried the demo (as far as I will go in doing that!) looks like it would be fun as a freebie or something maybe near the £5 mark, as an absolute maximum roof limit but £32...no thank you! Some are still in a recession and don't go by the name of Richard Branson

I see there is no TT editor or no delays applicable either, this is the District Line after all! Please don't take that as a 'it's the worst line ever' but come on, even LU have delays and failures just like the NR network and for it's price I would expect some form of mayhem for interest.

476 posts 		I have to agree with Underwood. I had PC Rail sims for ages. I'm afraid that even for the high price they can't match the 'feel' and prototype quality of Simsig.

25 posts 		Maybe my needs are different to others,yes PC rail is rather pricey but sims from PC cover areas that maybe will never be available through SIM SIG and I think this is healthy competition, having played several PC sims I do enjoy them esp Carlisle, Crewe, Lewisham, and the 2 versions of York are terriffic.
Having said this I still think that SIMSIG is tops and their latest offerings STH HUMBERSIDE, BRIGHTON,WORKSOP and OXTED are brilliant sims to play and looking forward very much to DERBY and SALTLEY as I know they will not be released until they are just right. Anyway thanks to you gentlemen for producing hours of pleasure, when funds permit I will send a donation.

44 posts 		Ive got several of PC Rail's sims but i won't be getting the Earls Court Sim. Its too expensive. I also have some of the Siam Sims too. But i can't wait for the Saltley sim to come out.

No failures is really unrealistic for the District!
Delays are no problem... Everything will start blocking back anyway if this is anywhere near realistic! The Circle line will slow the Districts crossing over to Gloucester Rd anyway... Many times I sat waiting for the road over the junction to be told the Circle had the priority, despite how late I was!

And if I had a pound for every time a Circle Line driver moaned about the District or the Met, or for every time a Met moaned about the Circle... and so on and so on And stuck in the middle are the signallers and controllers - none of which are paid commission by any line to "prioritise" services. But I'm sure you knew all that

I have the full version of one of the semaphore PC-Rail sims, and it does include customisable delays, with configurable delay settings for each entry location. It's not as good as Simsig, especially given the high price - and it doesn't include failures - but their more realistic mechanical-frame sims are the best mechanical-frame ones I've found. I don't play it very often, because working one box gets dull rather more quickly (and because my girlfriend quickly gets annoyed with the bells!).

748 posts 		Oh yes I did enjoy the Barnham demo, though is a tad quiet for me.
I understand these do have delays but on the PC-rail site it specifies that the Earl's Court simulation itself doesn't, possibly the only simulation on there that doesn't have delays.

ExDistrictDriver - very unrealistic! Two times on a weekday once on the District Line I ended up in the middle of a lot of stepping up in place! A few changed destination en-route and a lot of changes at Earl's Court. Eventually got to Kensington Olympia, the original was stepped up and changed to Wimbledon.

Still I doubt that is simulated in PCrail, or having the option to, at least you can in SimSig. I am now in the middle of creating the whole Earl's Court box for free for another simulator anyway. Basic, no delays (though you can by holding them up) but it is free and not spending a bomb on it!

3685 posts 		whilst it is fair to criticise PC rail for charging for sims, dont forget that people do buy them. If geoff wished to charge £10 per sim for SimSig for instance, i think some people would complain, but 90% of us would happily pay.

If Mr dennis wants to charge for his sims, and people consistently buy them, I see no problem.

I choose SimSig becuase its better, not becuase its cheaper.

184 posts 		I don't see any problem with the prices they are charging either, but the fact that they release timetables with their sims that only last till 10 in the morning did stop me from buying any more sims. In fact when this is questioned (and this issue is raised once every few months, or even with every release of a new area these days) you get bombarded with people who say you are rude questioning the developers who just took nearly 40 euro's from you. This makes a proper discussion impossible, so I gave up. I just don't get how they think creating a TT for pc-rail should be harder as creating one for SimSig. I would rather say it is the other way around, but like I said discussing the matter on their mailing list is somewhat impossible.
