There is one booked to stand in the Up Goods Loop at Banbury one night a week (Think its Wednesday?) to wait its path along the Chiltern Branch as it is a Class 7 so doesn't fit inbetween the 100mph Class 168s very well. They are definitely formed of 2x20 - BARRIER - S STOCK - BARRIER - 2x20. Log in to reply |

Just had a quick check on iplayer and at 15:07 there is a shot of a set of S stock moving on what looks like that main line under some wires with no loco on the front- which is why I thought I was correct. On another note, we now know who the chap is who's reponsible for installing the "sensitive edge" doors that are the curse of the Victoria line every day. Excuse the poor photo! Taken in a hurry from the window of the office I was working at in Harrow with my iphone. As you can see they definitely go out with 4Xclass 20 and 2 barrier wagons for the collection of the latest S Stock. As I understood it they came back top and tailed and then the front 2 class 20's and the barrier was removed and it is pushed the last few hundred yards into the depot. Peter - the sensitive edge doors don't "seem" to cause as many issues on the S stock. Since the start of the year I've been using both Met and Victoria lines and the doors have caused problems virtually every day on Vic line but only once on the S Stock! Post has attachments. It's called '8X09' and covers the section from Asfordby to Banbury, with 3hrs 15min of footage (incidentally a chunk of which features the Saltley area). I've watched the first two episodes, good programme. I also wondered about the 20s pushing the new stock into the depot and thinking that would be a heck of a driving job to push it all the way. Reading other posts on this has answered the question.

He is only installing them as per the design spec The sensitive edge on the S-stock is of a slightly different design. We encounter less problems partly due to this difference, and also due to other factors such as train shape (the 09 is smaller / more curved for the tube tunnels) and train loadings (09s are generally have higher crush loadings than the S-stock). Education on how to deal with activations has also meant delays are less on both the Vic and Met lines. On the subject of delivery, another stock was successfully delivered last night (after a few brake problems north of Aylesbury). The formation was definately 2xClass 20s+Barrier+S-stock+Barrier+2xClass 20s - as I watched via CCTV through most stations on the journey from Amersham to Neasden depot. I, and a pretty much everyone I follow on Twitter (who Tweeted their thoughts), found episode three tough. A lot of the Tweets again complimented it on a good episode (well produced, I assume) but said it was tough viewing. There were certainly some moments where it had me in absolute silence. I found the episode very well produced, as the whole series has been. One thing puzzles me though. Anyone know why the station roundels were pixelated and they made sure they didn't announce any station names for the fatalities? Log in to reply |

As far as blotting out station names, whilst some can be worked out (for instance the incident I was filmed as controller for on this program) the relatively recent filming means that some are still subject to coroner proceedings - certainly the one on Notting Hill Carnival day anyway. That aside, whilst the families concerned were approached, it is still more tactful to leave certain details out to preserve some respect. Don't forget that, for certain similar reasons, peoples faces are also blurred - in particular when fair dodgers are featured. At the time of filming and possibly at broadcast, they could still be "alleged" fair-dodgers. Log in to reply |

My NR ticket runs from my home station to King's Cross - the barriers at which only accept my paper season ticket and not my staff pass.
