Been to the Brunswick and we have it from Noon - 18:00 on the 10th November. I know that on the poll the 17th was favourite but that was unavailable. Am taking better half to the Gurkha tonight so will book it for the Saturday night. Log in to reply The following users said thank you: y10g9, Noisynoel, andyb0607 |

I will be unable to attend on that date - was free 17th but will not be able to get the 10th off work. I thought it said in a previous post that both dates were available? Log in to reply |

I must add my two-penny worth in, the poll is flawed as it only allows people to pick one date, and does not allow for those that are avaliable for both dates to vote for both dates therefore possibly evening up the vote somewhat. I can appreciate that people may be frustrated about their preferred date being the chosen one but as usual you are unable to please all the people all the time ( I know I've missed a few meets due to work). Whilst I'm on the subject of meets, if I'm seriously mistaken they were designed to be 'social' events where people of SimSig who normally only knew eatch other by forum 'handles' or by the 4 digit code on sims, a ort of "put a face to a name" kind of thing, then came the odd occasion (as it was) when new sims were released at meets primarily for testing in the almost public enviroment chaining issues etc.... This became the expected norm and I have personally witnessed that when nothing new has been released at meets for what ever reason people seem to appear as they was robbed like a meet meant new sims. Ok me personally I tend not to play sims at meets generally (certianlly in the case of Carlisle where I was testing left right and centre before hand) as to me this is more a social event getting together with people I may not see from meet to meet. On a side note, I wish to thank John Gallon for the organisation of the Newcastle meet (should have put it in the correct thread, but that's me) To sum up, and sorry if I have bored you......... more social less anti-social.... Poll could have been better with 3 options 1) 10 Nov; 2) 17 Nov; 3) either/no preference. I can only help one person a day. Today's not your day. Tomorrow doesn't look too good either. Log in to reply The following users said thank you: derbybest, Stephen Fulcher |

There was another issue with the poll which I won't go in to. Suffice to say what's done is done and in the past so let's move on. There seems to have been some confusion with the booking of the 17th at the pub - again, that's in the past now. What we are going to do is hold the event in The Brunswick on the 10th, and support AlanG's event on the 17th. I'll leave the details of the latter for Alan. For the 10th we're going to have a smaller event than usual with no entry fee, no buffet, and no commitment to run any sims (though if there are enough who want to do so then we will). Thus, it'll be a more relaxed affair, more akin to the very first Bristol social we had - something which the developers have been begging for for a while! If you do want food, The Brunswick have a menu that you can order from on the day. I'll put up a sign-up sheet later but this is simply to gauge numbers. If you don't mind which date then don't vote. If you can do more than one then just select one of them and hope for the best. Log in to reply |

Just a quick question. For the users that due to the tierny of distance (17000kms) Sydney - Derby that are unable to attend the meets. Is there any chance of obtaing a copy of any software given out for testing. I know that any software distributed at the meets is limited in its circulation but it would be nice to test a sim every now & then instead of reading the forum and being envyous of the users that were lucky enough to not only attend the meet but get a copy of the latest beta sim. Cheers Damien btw. there is a couple of us "convicts" planning a trip to the uk to co-incide with the nov meet in 2014. I intend to live forever. So far so good Log in to reply |

The meet on the 10th will, as said previously, be just a social event. No buffet has been ordered but food is available a la carte. IIRC they're quite cheap but of course you're welcome to eat elsewhere. Consequently there is no entry fee either. Just turn up and enjoy the company! The upstairs room will officially be available from noon until 6pm though you could probably go up earlier - check with the bar staff. No namebadges, no sign-up sheets, no attendance register, nothing - except maybe some photos! There is no plan for a multiplayer game and thus no releases, as Matt says, but there's nothing to stop people having one if they want to. Enjoy - sadly I can't come this year. Thanks for the replies. I wasn't necessarily meaning this meet. It was more a general question for any future meets. I appreciate that there is not necessarily a new sim released at every meet (we wish) but it would be nice to get an opportunity to test a sim or 2 at some stage. As I said in my previous post a trip to a meet is a 34000km and 5 day return journey so the chances of actually attending a meet are very very low without a lot of planning & $$.

Yes - we believe you. Probably the author will release something juicy like BNS and only the 5 that turn up will get the sim to play with for the next like 5 years whilst its being refined !! Log in to reply |

Ray, your selfishness and ingratitude really knows no bounds, does it? Perhaps you should make the effort to attend a future meet. That way you can get your hands on one of the unreleased sims that you seem to feel it's your god given right to receive. You could also take the opportunity whilst there to tells the devs in person what a lackluster job it is they do, and how they should be jettisoning their family and friends and devoting all of their spare-time to rushing sims out just to please you.
