As a relatively new operator of SimSig, I'm having a problem with reversing 5E06 at Exeter central at around 08:20 in the 2006 timetable v 2.222 with Exeter v2.227.0. It would appear that the unit should go into the yard, wait for three mainline moves before setting off towards central. The timetable shows the train as a down move before it has crossed over, I wonder if this is what causes the confusion? I've tried all the suggestions offered in both the previous threads I've found on this subject, but to no avail. I am an experienced railman of 44 yrs. and know the Exeter area well, having worked out of the depot for many years. Has anyone come up with a solution to this apparent problem, as I have come to a grinding halt on this move. Many thanks, Steve M Log in to reply |

But the train just "runs out of valid track" and the timetable editor claims there's no route from Rev Exmouth Jn East to Exmouth Jn. Log in to reply |

The logic behind it is that junction locations are at the last signal BEFORE the junction, not the actual junction itself. Hence a train at Ex Jn (rev) won't actually pass the Ex Jn location on the running line from Pinhoe. In the other direction it's probably due to the paths provided and the associated key locations. Although Ex Jn is a key location for the main running routes paths, it's not included in the shunt routes, these being to/from Ex Jn (rev) directly. I can only help one person a day. Many thanks for all the replies - I'm glad I'm not the only confused one on this. I managed to go the way Barry suggested, up the Exmouth after reversing at the LOS, then again reversing back towards Central, caused loads of delay, and not very prototypical, but it worked. SteveM Log in to reply |

Sorry to rejuvenate this topic but I wish to clear two things up: 1. Is "Exmouth Junction East" the HS siding opp. the CE works? 2. I see that the HS siding is, by the looks of things, uncircuited. So if, for example, I put train 5X00 into the HS siding at Exmouth Junction does the train exit the sim (meaning I would need to create a separate train, ie. 5X002, for anything to come back out of HS) or can I just do it as a reverse and have the whole lot on the 5X00 TT?
