Are you counting the 4 TC units as EMU's and if so is it any of the stations on any of the lines eminating from Salisbury?

Paul, no I'm not & furthermore it's not in the Salisbury area either. I must admit I didn't get this right when it was asked in a BR quiz in 1985, furthermore not having been anywhere near this location since then I'm not sure if the answer to the question is the same now as it was back then. People trying to work this one out ought to reflect back to the early to mid 1980s, if you are old enough to know the railway network back then. The answer to the question doesn't appear on any South Western sim produced by SimSig so far if that helps?

Thats not the answer Andy. The next clue I'll say is looking on the current Quail map book for the Southern Region the station currently has 2 platforms. I suspect back in 1985 it was still the same. As afar as whose guess is the closest in distance to the answer, it is this one.

You are correct, the answer was Branksome. All the 3rd rail DC units went through the station as ECS movements to & from the carriage sidings, but none were booked to stop there. Well done. Winning prize is in the post.

Many thanks to everybody who took part. There was one unanswered question. 16. Which station has seven distant signals, but only three starting signals? As previously suggested, this is an Ex Western region location. The signals are worked from two boxes and four of the distant arms are working. This is Bewdley on the Severn Valley Railway.
