According to the Sectional Appendix, Class 56s are permitted on that route (GW108) with no restrictions. That would suggest NR are at fault, not DCR.

That only holds true if the loco was maintained to correct standards - if maintenance wasn't carried out correctly the loco could become out of guage, although the same argument applies to the trackwork and NR

I can find a fair few photos of 56s going through Taunton, implying that no one else's locos have had this issue...

The cause of this incident has already been determined, and although I am not going to post what it was, I would caution against drawing conclusions.

The only reference I can find to a similar locomotive visiting Taunton in the last few days is here.

There is no reference to any incident that I've been able to find.

It was noted on the 23rd of September on WNXX Forum, so I'd assume it happened that day or earlier. The topic is here, although you have to be a Forum member (which is free) to read it.
