May I start off the silly questions with the following : Why are the header codes of the trains not moving out of BNS along with the red circuit visual ? Is there any way of ensuring the code follows with the movement of the train. Log in to reply |

At the risk of being accused of being a silly question (hence posted here), how do I make progress with seeded 5G62? Standing at sig 94 with no obvious method of progressing it to Bordesley Jn. Only 4 mins into demo - which from past experience will rapidly expire - but would still be interested in solution before I undoubtedly pay for full sim on next payday. Post has attachments. Bordesley Junction is beyond St. Andrews Junction- look on the Saltley Train Describer map at the top left for layout details past St. Andrews. All you need to do is set the route to from 94 to SY92. At that point, Saltley PSB takes over. Sincere thanks GeoffM and Steamer - finally found exit signal SY92. Confused by it being greyed out. (My excuse anyway). Will certainly be paying for this on next payday - any chance of Rugby next? (My home town!) Log in to reply The following user said thank you: kbarber |

And Nuneaton please, if there's a move to fill in the West Mids, and perhaps Walsall at some point too? If the Nuneaton - Coventry could be included (and especially if (when?) Saltley is updated to chain) we'd then have a pretty solid block of the Midlands under Simsig control. Sorry, my megalomania just got out of its box again Log in to reply |

Hi all. Sorry to continue the silly questions. This may have been posted elsewhere but I'm blowed if I can find it. Just downloaded New Street with no probs. Got a message about the demo mode, then soon after another one that the demo had expired. I hadn't done any moves as there is no timetable appearing. I definitely want to purchase, but probably need to clear a few things up first. Humble apologies if the answer is elsewhere, but it's the first time I've used the payware side of Simsig. Many thanks in advance (grovel, grovel). Mal. Log in to reply |

delticfan said:I hadn't done any moves as there is no timetable appearingDid you did select 'Next' after highlighting New Street in the Loader? That should let you select a timetable. Quote: Got a message about the demo mode, then soon after another one that the demo had expired. There's a bug in the Loader, which quite often causes the Demo mode to expire seconds after starting the simulation. Many thanks Steamer, I just tried again and did what I thought I'd done the first time. Highlighted New Street and selected subsequent options followed by 'Next' each time, then 'Start' and hey presto! Perfick! (Bangs head on desk). I assume that to complete purchase I just pay and off we go. Log in to reply |

An omission from the manual: What's the difference between the two "Platform locking" options? Are the platform arrows just a visual aid to show you when route locking has timed out, or are there additional differences in behaviour compared to "Standard locking"? And which option's prototypical (judging from the panel photos I'd guess "Standard locking")?
Two million people attempt to use Birmingham's magnificent rail network every year, with just over a million of them managing to get further than Smethwick. Log in to reply |

Standard locking is the prototypical version, faithfully represents the (lack of) locking on the real panel. The other option provides additional locking to enforce the rules the signallers have to work to, the arrows denote when each bit of platform is locked and in which direction. It was a relatively late addition to the sim and thus probably got missed out of manual - Ill add more detail to the wiki later

I've loads of memories of my time in the New Street/Wolves area so just treated myself to Wolverhampton and New Street. I'm convinced that things seem to fall into place much easier when I can picture the control area. I really am chuffed with the West Mids sims. Again, a big thank you to everyone for the sheer hard work in planning and building these. Mal. Log in to reply The following user said thank you: GeoffM |

I wouldn't try it with failures on but on a good day it isn't too bad, outside the peaks it is quite repetitious like most of UK network nowadays

Quote:Is New Street possible to run single player? To make it more possible, the usual setting of adjusting the speed to slow would be a good idea. I've only had a go on the demo (which I will hopefully be buying the full version after pay day). But seems like quite a challenging sim Thanks to the Geoff and the rest of the team who developed, tested and TT'd Log in to reply |

Hi all, I certainly agree with your points jishmondo and Lordmwa. I've run the first hour a couple of times (the second time really slowly). Right from the off the phone doesn't stop so you certainly need time to zip round and find where the calls are from and take the relevant actions. Seconded on the Sim too. Absolutely brilliant and totally challenging! Mal. Log in to reply |
