Worksop Down Sidings. 14/05/2014 at 18:55 #60490

I've looked through the forums and wiki but not found anything relating to this problem I'm having -

There's a number of trains (e.g. 6F17 in the default timetable) which approach Worksop from the east, stop in the down sidings for the loco to run round, then head back to Clarborough junction.

I've found though that these trains don't appear to acknowledge the location 'Down Rec X' when it gets to the stop board. They just power on through, past 'Worksop SS (remove location)', past Dep Road 1 and if the road is set they can carry on towards Whitwell or Shireoaks without questioning - the next location it's looking for is still Down Rec X.

Appreciably, the fix to this probably requires an update - as well to remove the location 'Worksop SS'. In the meantime though, as a work around, are these trains able to exit the sim at this location in the same way they can enter it?

Not sure if this occurs on the Up side too.

The short answer is yes.

In the Autumn 2013 timetable I'm working on, there are several of these moves. With some the train exits and re-enters later; with others the run round is done by the player in one of the Down Rec roads. I have to say, I haven't encountered the problem you described.

In real life Worksop Down Sidings are rather bigger than simulated, so I think it's legitimate to let trains shunt off-sim if the sidings are a bit full.

Would be interesting to know if anyone else has had the same issues. In reality, it appears that in addition to the two reception roads shown on the sim there are about a dozen sidings to the south, accessed only from the down end (i.e. Dep Road 1). If these were simulated it would be reasonable for these sidings to be an entry/exit points, but not the two reception loops.

after Worksop sidings box closed, the control of entry to the recessing sidings is by shunters authority and instruction. they are mostly used for some wagon storage (there were certainly some HAAs and CDAs there last year, along with some national power Bogie hoppers)although they use to hold MGRs at weekends. the best simulation is for the train to disappear on one of the reception lines, and reappear on the departure lines. before Shireoaks east box closed, there was also access to the sidings via what is now the neck siding.

Thanks JC. I think the best approach here is probably to split the train at Worksop, and simulate the RR as a separate train entering on the departure road - then add some rules to tie them all together.
