I'm not convinced that the middle "eye" button is actually taking me to the right post. The "Southampton still not working" being a case in point. I had not read any of it and I was taken to the first reply, not the first post.

Another, and I was not paying too much attention till after the event, but I first unread post appeared with the top bit cut off - so might have taken me to the last post. I'll do some testing if my train stops bouncing around.

Logged in on test account for the first time in ages, so plenty of unread stuff. I can confirm "Latest post" is taking me to last-post on every thread I check.

Same for me.
Two million people attempt to use Birmingham's magnificent rail network every year, with just over a million of them managing to get further than Smethwick.

In fairness, where would you expect something marked "Latest Post" to take you? For practical use something marked as "First Unread" and taking you to that point would be more effective.

Maybe there's some confusion in terminology - in the post above the test post, Peter was taking about the "eye" button.

A minor derailment: Clicking the "Back" button on a post that has just been "Thank You"ed goes nowhere.

More updates today, including but not limited to:
- Experimental icons in the Latest Posts page that allows you to go to the first, first unread, or last post respectively. Feedback would be appreciated.
Have these buttons disappeared for other users or is it just me? IE11 if that helps.

Thanks

Removed.

The "New" tag takes you to the latest post. Clicking the thread takes you to the first post, and pressing latest post takes you to the end.

Clicking on "New" takes you to the first unread post,

but even on mine I don't see those 3 experimental icons, not that I noticed they dissapeared, as I click on the "New" and that takes me to the first unread. (I use Firefox)

The icons were added in a website update published in January; they were removed a few days ago in a more recent update. Their functions have been replicated in the manner described by Karl above.

The latest version of the website has been uploaded. A few things were already up but are listed here for information. Not a full list:
- Links on links page fixed
- PMs are now accessible on mobile devices
- Wiki edit box made bigger
- Server error after an upload
- Withdraw/cancel a "thank you"
- If an action requires you to log in then you are taken back there after logging in
- Search function improved significantly
- Replying to a forum post now shows the last few posts in that thread
- Facebook/Twitter/TeamSpeak icons added to top bar

Users can now add files to the Wiki. Sorry it's taken so long - it is more difficult than you'd imagine.

While on the subject of Wikis, some have asked why not convert to MediaWiki or another flavour of the month. I don't consider any of the others to be universally better than DokuWiki so the idea of converting hundreds of pages to a different syntax all to gain some features and lose others doesn't appeal to me. The toughest part about Wikis is the lack of a definitive parsing set of rules: in other words, you get a sequence of tokens (words, symbols etc) and you could interpret it in more than one way, because the rules aren't specific enough. This is a known issue in all Wiki syntaxes that I've read.

Would it be possible for the 'manage files' page to show files associated with sub-pages, as well as files associated with the page itself? There's currently no way to show a list of every file already uploaded.

This is a particular problem with simulation images: a lot of them will be associated with the old usertrack:mans: and usertrack:sims namespaces, which are no longer in use.

There's also no easy way to insert a picture into a document- if the file is in another namespace, you have to find the files location, and write out the link.

Geoff,

Just a note. In my Shout Box, times of posting for my Time Zone only display for 2 seconds before reverting back to GMT. Is it possible to correct?

Tried it myself with a number of different zones and it seems all over the place, Currently on Reykjavik time (at 23.** BST) and it's jumping around from 14.** to 17.** to 23** and back again. Suggest putting it on MANTIS.

Not a representative test since the session time offset is not immediately updated so you were kind of chasing your own tail.

Also on the below, deleting a message from the Outbox takes you back to the Inbox. It probably shouldn't.

Moving swiftly on, is there any way to bulk delete PMs from the Inbox and Outbox or do you have to click the delete button for each message separately then agree that you really want to delete the message?
