Am I correct in that there were some track alterations at Glasgow Queen Street not that long ago? Something that can be a bit frustrating when playing the sim is that trains passing through the tunnel en-route to the station are held at CQ57 until a route can be set from CQ59. In the screenshot you can see that 2W70 is being held at CQ57. Is this still the case in real life and if so, what is the logic behind it? Post has attachments. Log in to view them. The additional controls on CQ57 signal negate the need for drivers to make the difficult stop at CQ59 unless necessary. Log in to reply |

If you set the route from 57 to 59 the train should hove up to 59, you appear not to have set that route yet in the screenshot. Peter I identify as half man half biscuit - crumbs! Log in to reply |

It's probably just me trying not to block any routes out of the station which is perhaps not such a good idea.Am I correct in that there were some track alterations at Glasgow Queen Street not that long ago? I'll live just with it that case. Everything that you make will be useful - providing it's made of chocolate. Log in to reply |

bugsy in post 141548 said:That is the point, as James saiys the tunnel is very steep down to the station (1 in 40 and tends to be wet) so not stopping at the bottom is a genuine issue, hence the overlap designed in for real. Simply not safe to leave 7 if a train coming down the hill is not stopped at 59 or back beyond 57. Log in to reply |

The tunnel lines are also bi-directional so you have the option of putting a train into one of the lower numbered platforms using the "opposite" line through the tunnel and signalling a train out of one of the higher numbered platforms while that is happening. “In life, there is always someone out there, who won’t like you, for whatever reason, don’t let the insecurities in their lives affect yours.” – Rashida Rowe Log in to reply |

Thank you for your replies Bill and Postal. I can now see what the issues are in the tunnel and yes, I can use the "opposite" route to the lower platforms but for some reason I don't really take advantage of this facility, probably because I Fairly often forget about it. Trains are usually timed with a bit of slack approaching Queen St (like any other terminal really) to allow for waits like the one in the OP. By contrast, departing trains are usually timed on the expectation that they'll have a clear run out.
