Legacy Timetable feature.. 18/11/2017 at 10:51 #103013

Hi all,

I see in the Peterborough manual page there is a new provision (presumably for when the new loader version is released) to start the sim with "Legacy Timetable Features"

Can anyone tell me what these features actually are?

Sandy Up Siding and St.Neots Up Siding exist as entry points. Without this they are merely "platforms" at Sandy and St.Neots.

There's a problem with trains timetabled to exit at Sandy or St. Neot's Up Sidings. Even when the "Legacy Timetable Features" is ticked, trains don't exit the sim but just stop in the siding with a status of "Train Terminated. No more timetabled trips", which is what you get if you don't request the Legacy Features. I'm running Loader v4.7 and sim version "1.4 build 4".

I've attached a test timetable which can be used to verify the above.

Regards,

Lyn

I would appreciate a Tester/Moderator/Developer adding this issue to Mantis so that the error is documented. There's no point in using the Forum to report errors if no-one with the appropriate authority can be bothered to add the issue to the Mantis system.

Lyn,

I don’t think there’s any case of anyone can’t be bothered; and accusing people as such isn’t going to be particularly productive. Not everyone is on here all day every day, those that are might not have time to look at every post or issue reported.

Is the issue described here actually a bug?

The manual says legacy TT mode turns these sidings into entry points. That doesn’t necessarily make them exit points. I can’t recall if the original Peterborough had them as exit points or not? But the purpose of legacy TT mode is just to retain compatibility of older timetables.

Clive will be able to answer as to what his intentions were.

Mantis 20752 opened for discussion.

James,

Thanks for creating the Mantis ticket. I didn't mean to upset anyone, but was rather annoyed that no-one commented on the problem after nearly a week.

I would be surprised if the two sidings were just entry points rather than entry/exit points, otherwise how do trains that enter get there in the first place?

I look forward to Clive's comments.

Before seeding at signals was implemented, trains had to enter at a suitable entry point. These sidings may have been entry points only for seeding purposes, as there aren't any other entry points between Peterborough and Hitchin in the Up direction.

That's exactly the situation. I noticed them while doing some other work on the sim and decided to get rid of them - see Mantis 17755. So I've closed 20752 as "no change needed".
