Hiya,

Derby in 2018 went under huge procedures to redevelop the station with 1 platform being added and 1 being taken out with all the signalling and tracks being upgraded. It’s been transferred to the EMCC (east midland control centre) and I was just wondering if there was any plans for derby to have a new era?

As a side note, I've just noticed on those diagrams that there's no easy route from platforms 1 & 2 to the rest of the station or sidings. Interesting design choice - it makes P1&2 almost a seperate station.

Also… is Trent in process of being turned into loader format because then we can chain a few things together and that’d be cool.

P1/P2 - NE/SW
P3/P4 - Primarily reversals but can be used by NE/SW and London - Sheffield (the only two platforms which can be accessed by both routes)
P5/P6 - London - Sheffield
P7 - Saw regular use during the remodelling in 2018 but is not in regular passenger use now. It is what was the Pilot Sdg on the old layout.

Probably for operational benefits. Easier to change ends walking along a platform than walking through the train or on the ballast (less STF hazards).

It's not a passenger line, because there's no protection against movements coming out of sidings without authority at either Etches Park depot or Chaddesden - otherwise, they'd need trap points or some form of flank protection.

It was built primarily to allow Derby station to be served during the remodelling works, it was built on a goods line it had dispensation for passenger use throughout the works. Since the works are now over it is only used occasionally and there's specific rulebook requirements around passenger trains on goods lines.

It does now see use by staff for internal carriage cleaning, and allows easy access for those events. Whether this was intended originally, or just a happy side affect I don't know.

actually platform 5 is used for sheffield to london and for some matlock trains

Ramsline Halt/St andrews has been shut for many years. The platform itself is still there but track has now gone.
