Because the train has only partially traversed the route. The overlap stays until the train has approached the signal.

The trains are stopped at the relieving point, which is short of the signal. The overlap release timer won't start until the train occupies the TC immediately before the signal.

Can I avoid it somehow? Since 4L77 vil stay there for nearly an hour it effectively stops the posibility for other trains to route past it. Setting a route for 4L24 upwards is not possible.

Setting a route for 4L24 upwards is not possible. You'd have to hold them back at a previous signal and only signal them through the relieving point at nearer to their booked departure time. You can still route 4L24 past using the two U&D Goods lines or the Brent Receptions if any of them are clear.

This used to happen so much in real life, when I was a Signalman there. Driver would arrive and the relief wasn't there and the driver would leave it without talking to us in the Box, blocking the junction. Many a time drivers had to be called back to the train to move it forward. In the end the driver was called on approach, told we hadn't heard from his relief and if the driver didn't see his relief there, s/he was to draw up to the signal before leaving the train. Did have a few drivers complain of the tight walking route, but they were then advised that if they were not comfortable with the walking route then they were to remain on board the train until their relief arrived, as its a running line. Didn't get many complaints after that. Log in to reply The following user said thank you: TUT |

It does seem like an odd spot to have a crew change point, what was the logic (was logic even involved) they used when implementing it and not at the signals, If the sim relief point is accurate to real life, what was the logic to have the RP there essentially over pointwork and siding entry exit.
Boldly going forward 'cause we can't find reverse. Boldly going forward, still can't find reverse. Boldly going forward, and things are getting worse!. Log in to reply |
